How about we ingore the US invasion idea and actually have the IRA idea i mean country side aka bandit country the most dangerous place on earth it was, be interesting high hedgerows, and maybe stone walls and a few small villages. I mean if i had spare time i would make one. Be more realistic asa well. and lots of places for milita to hide maybe

Just because we disagree on some issues doesnt make us enemies. The movies and the past of cold war make an image of russians as enemies in your head. In reality we're pretty the same. We're mostly a christian country, we have our war on terrorism(which in some cases has connection to the broader war on terrorism) and we both are power and influence hungry assbags
FYI, out of Russia's 1100 year history, only 70 years were under communism.
But for the game, I think it would be really cool to have a Alaska map, where Russia wants to retake it after only realizing that they have been ripped off 100 years ago XD

Maybe France'll want the Louisiana Territory back as well? Could be interesting.

I'm also looking at a potential second Korean War with the action going on there. And with China getting edgy about the US participating in naval drills with South Korea, there's a potential for them to get involved as well. It'd be hilarious in a really morbid way if someone mapped out PR battles in Korea that soon happened in RL. I could also see some US territories in the Pacific being attacked by the Chinese.

I mean, almost every major European and American city has some skyscrapers and large buildings in it, and creating those from scratch would be a helluva lot of work, and could cause some pretty low FPS in games.
That being said, I think it would be awesome to see.
There are enough statics in BF2 and Armored Fury to create a map based on an American small town or rural area. It's not like you have to have a map set in the heart of Manhattan; you can still have an American setting and have the map somewhere out in the backcountry of Iowa, Minnesota or any of the rest of the ~90% of the country that is NOT part of a major city..

The Soviets may have only gotten as far as East Germany, but they took the rest of the continent without firing a single shot.

True, but I mean, we already have tons of maps set in the desert or rural areas.
I would think the fun of having a Western map would be setting it in a major metropolitan center, which there are plenty of in the US and Europe.

I mean, if you're going to have a rural map, why not just set it in asia?
It would be far more realistic anyway....

But what could be nice, as someone previously suggested, is a battlefield along a highway interchange, similar to Operation Road Rage in BF2 vanilla.
The United States has an excellent interstate highway system which any invading force would have to control in order to access the major cities.

Or perhaps a map set in the rural United States at a USAF base, which Opfor units are trying to capture.
Perhaps US Army forces are brought in to defend the airbase, and that's how the battle starts, something like that.

But a map just set amongst some rolling hills or a forest wouldn't be very interesting just because it's in the US; we would have to expand on some of the unique aspects of the geography and urbanization of the country.

Asia actually has larger cities than we do, and we actually have the statics to make some parts of Asian cities, while we have none of the statics needed to make Western cities. Now, if you make a small town/rural map, we can use the statics from Armored Fury to make maps with farms, strip malls, suburbs, and interstate highways among other things.

Well .. we could do USA farms using Objects from Armored fury . . . buch of random farm equipment and rural housing statics like we could do some sort of amish themed map basing off areas in PA, VA MD and Delaware.

Dont be mad about pictures if its an issue i can delete them

Canada Attacks USA. Sounds pretty realistic, they come up to our country to eat all our food =[

Well if you want a western map that wouldn't need too many statics you could try a map based off of Eastern Washington. Lots of small towns surrounded by hills, flat plains, and farmlands. Could be a good map for lots of vehicles like Kashan or Wanda Shan.

All we got up here is snow, the leftover frenchmen, and maple syrups.

And hockey. :]

I'd like to see some sort of western city being attacked by ruskies. Red Dawn anyone?

And their Maple Syrupz.
Sorry, it had to be said. :p

I think another game already beat you to that  :

But yeah, that could be good.
It would need to be at an importan area, I think. Like the crossroads of some interstate highways or a pass through the Rocky Mountains; something that an invading army would want to capture. I kind of doubt a map simply set in some rural American farmland would be cool just because it's in the US.

hmmm well you could do snoqaulmie pass? it has the best of both worlds: the cascade mountain range and I-90. Though I have no clue how easy it would be to design as I have only driven down the pass once.

That's why any US map should make use of the the interstate highway statics (as someone has previously said, the interstates are also military supply and troop movement routes and thus are prime targets for an invading force) as well as the American suburban houses and town buildings. Fighting in a generic US farmland might not be all that fun, but fighting through the suburbs to capture a big I-90 interchange would be much more interesting, and would still allow the mappers to avoid having to make skyscraper statics.
