Just because this PC is new and other games do not have problems doesn't mean there are none. Alot of people can play PR quite well which makes me think the cause might actually be your system. I'd say you shouldn't dismissing that possibility right away.

Run a RAM check. Use either or both "Windows Memory Diagnostic", MemTest (usually on any Linux live CD).
Maybe a RAM stick is defective. Since BF2 is not that optimized for modern hardware it might eat up more RAM reaching a defective sector which other more performant games don't.
Run "chkdsk c: /r" maybe it will find and fix some broken system files (always worth a shot imho).

Again: scroll through the Event Viewer.

Why would reducing my system's performance by limiting the power be helpful? Seems like that opposite of what is good.

And just because I'm having a problem doesn't mean it's my computer. There are too many other people having the same problem for it to just be me. And I'm not dismissing that possibility right away. Did you even read my post? I told you about how I had the same exact problems on my last computer, which ran Win7x32. Before that it was running Vista 64 and played PR just fine. It's PR + Windows 7 that is the problem. I don't know why it would work for some but not others, but the fact of the matter is that it's not working and there's no possible problem that could be present in both my PC's, especially the new one. That's why I'm dismissing it. So since this is occurring on two totally different rigs, that kinda rules out hardware. I don't see why there would be anything wrong with two brand new hard drives either.

I don't see why you're trying so hard to find fault with my gear and not suggesting that maybe there's a flaw in the game.

Because if this is soley due to a bug in the game there is nothing I can do than tell you to submit a detailed bug report. But as of now that wouldn't give the dev's a slightest idea of what is wrong with the game so they can't fix it unless they have the same problem or are able to reproduce it.

Ruling out possible causes is a major step in assessing a problem.
Also I am not simply suggesting your hardware might be broken I am also think there might be some problem with your windows installation (e.g. incompatible or bugged drivers or firmware causing rare errors) which you neglect check for.

OK, so I tried what Bang0o suggested and that worked to an extent, but it still freezes after a few hours. It's actually worth playing now because I can finish a game for once, but it's still a big pain in the ***.
