Who Thinks Having a Hint/Tutorial Sytem inGame is a good idea?
Cause I'm planning on doing one (a Project Reality version of the vBF2 Voice/Text, Hint/Tutorial System), but I want to know what you guys think first.
It'll cover everything dynamically as you do stuff, ie: you get in a helicopter and it tells you about things you need to know about helicopters (30 second wait, required kits, controls), It'll also cover squad joining, spawning, game types, and all sorts of other things (including basic movement and all that jazz too of course)

No, it's gonna be boring..., just read the manual hint somewhere would be cool.

you could easily turn it off if you need to, it would be better then having noobs mess up the gamePatrickLA_CA wrote:No, it's gonna be boring..., just read the manual hint somewhere would be cool.

@OP:
i would welcome something like this. But make it more like a tutorial, not liek hints.
If it was jsut like in vanilla, it would encourage new players to directly use heavy assets/specialist kits, which will completely destroy the game, cause kits and assets just needs experience/practice.
(If possible) try make it server-sided so servers admins can turn the hints on, helping new players lerning things on a training server. and on a "proper server" they could be turned off.

I am not against it, it can be good for new players, but they should still read tha manual, you know.
I think that with some hours of PR already played, manual read and with a patient SL, anyone can learn new things.
However, you should ask some newbies if they would be better with it

Maybe you can have the annoying paperclip/stickynote thing from Windows?

I personally would welcome a system like this, if done to a certain standard and implemented properly, it would make it much easier for any player to learn and get involved in the PR experience.

[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto: "Talking squad level tactics in bed is actually a little known aphrodisiac"
[R-CON]Pantera : "maybe you might learn that we are not super intelligent beings chained in UKF's basement being forced to work on this".

I think its a great idea. It would work best in coop or local servers though. thats where people usually go to learn, and if its enabled in the real servers then people wont feel like they have any reason to go to coop or to read more of the manual.

Would be useful. Just like the tips you mentioned in BF2 when you first play the game... I would concentrate on the game mechanics though and not movement tactics or such things. That's too much I think.

Yea, as long as you can turn it off easily then I wouldn't mind it because if I've played PR for 2 years and had to reinstall the game cause of something, and it began telling me that I need to wait 30 seconds before taking off in a chopper while a squad is trying to tell me over mumble where they want to go or it's telling me that now you've joined a squad you can request a kit if your SL assigns you one or something while he's trying to give me orders and there's no way to turn it off then that'd be annoying.
So sure, as long as there's an easy way to turn it off then it'd be good with me.

okay awesome, I'll get started on this after Dec. 8th then. Although I'm just doing the recording and script writing, and probably outlining what text will show up, so if anyone would want to talk with me about the coding, implementation or whatever just email me @ [email protected].
Cheers m8's! thx for the feedback
