Make mines track, not kill armors.
Is there a way to make landmines 100% track a heavy vehicle instead of instantly kill it?
1. it would make sense that modern MBT/APC will not be blown to bits with just one landmine(unless that landmine is really big...).
Watching bodies fly out 10m above APC that just blew up is funny, but is it really what happens in real life?
2. the tracked vehicle can be repaired, which would make supply truck slightly more useful.
3. Insurgents can stand on the tracked vehicle (hopefully both turret and movement are both down), take a picture, then proceed to ambush the squad trying to rescue the vehicle.
Just make sure that one or two RKG or a RPG/SPG will kill the vehicle and that will be fine.
This way perhaps people will watch over their minefield more and maybe warn the idiotic teammates that do not check minimap while driving to NOT go suicide on friendly mines. Also, it provides more opportunity for some more focused firefights as both sides rush to the downed vehicle to repair/destroy it.

you'll need to give some proof that a full out AT mine won't destroy the shit out of modern armor. I'm not asking cause I think you won't, I literally don't know. Although I have a feeling that the way it is now is realistic.

Yes, people really fly out of cupolas and sometimes the body of APCs and PMVs when they explode. It's pretty uncool when it happens.

Mines wont rly do anything to NATO tanks... I have never heard stories of Eastern tanks but I have heard of M1 Abrams hitting mines in Iraq and Astan and being able to crawl back to base w.o any casualties and being back in action the next day... Same with the Chally... In one source it explains how an IED combined with a Mine killed crew but it was combined with artillery shells...Bluedrake42 wrote:you'll need to give some proof that a full out AT mine won't destroy the shit out of modern armor. But we need sources right lol? ? ?

Anti Tank mines mainly provide a mobility kill on tanks. Not boom everyone is dead inside and the whole tank is reduced to a pile of rubble.

Yeah I researched it too, I support this now, it should be that they only track tanks, now strykers on the other hand idk, but of course humvees will still get blown to the moon xD

Believe this goes along with the specific failures of vehicles. Thinking in lines of rotor failure in choppers and such.
Think it is hardcoded to be random and cannot be specific. That's what I remember from other threads anyway. Would be neat to have though. The rate the random malfunction happens may be able to change, but that would apply to all damage not just mines. iirc

what profit?Dev1200 wrote:Plant two mines on top of each other.

Profit.
if the tank stays disabled, there's more profit. not only is the tank not gonna respawn in 20 minutes the crew are still alive and stuck in a hot zone. Enemies will want to come to repair it and save the tickets. and by doing so put more tickets in the line of fire.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Ya, the idea makes sense. With modern armor(so something else than steel), old fashioned mines won't blow the tanks to the moon and back. Instead they will be tracked.

Heres some:
YouTube - Tank that just got hit by AT-mine
This would be good change since peoples would have to set ambushes and not just relay on mines.

Sounds cool, would make the heavy armor a bit more resilient. But APCs should still blow up IMO, otherwise people will starting rushing around with them (THEY ARE NOT LIGHT TANKS!
). Anyway thumbs up for the idea if its possible.

I hit a mine with an LAV on Barracuda once (pre .95 obviously) and it was only immobilized. So, isn't this already ingame?
User Ubaydah: "I used to play Call of Duty a lot and Battlefield 3. I am really good at those games 10th prestige, High K/d., I can kill people easily, etc. But on PR, for me, to be honest, I kind of suck."

Do you want to risk 12 tickets and heavy armor support for the enemy? =/Bringerof_D wrote:what profit?

It would make sense, not to mention make it more balanced, because as said earlier, if the tank is tracked, the crew is inside, and is in a hot zone (considering it just hit a mine), so people (On the opposing force) could attack it, this could encourage .50 cal gunners on more tanks.

Depend on what type of vehicle you're in, what armor it have, where the mine blow, what type of charge it was, there is alot of factor. No an AT-Mine would probably not destroy a tank the same way an LGB would. But AT mine can damage beyong repair and even kill crewman. MBT are strong, but there arent invincible.

Re: Make mines track, not kill armors.
Simple fact as i see it is, that the "Repair Stations" are not designed to be deployed next to a "tracked" tank, they are there to equip a FOB or other location as a tactical repair station for light damage.
We don't have engineer "wrenches" or "repair vehicles" anymore, and strategically Mines are great as a lethal device to slow down and deny key points to the enemy.
On Bridges, we now have bridging units for when your engineer is too vulnerable to defuse the mine. Beyond crests of hills, we should / do have infantry dismounting and checking for mines / IED's - same goes for river crossings.
Most armour doesn't have V-shaped hulls, so as the modern MBT is almost never repaired from catastrophic damage in the field, and as we don't have Engineer, cranes, tank transporters and dozers, i think it should be kept the way it is.
