Want to organize a casual group [not a clan]

Post by rspaulding »

Personally, I find it boring and a waste of time playing with unorganized idiots in a squad on any given server (which seems to happen quite a bit). So I wanted to see if anyone wants to put together a very casual, no-commitment group to play on public servers so that we aren't wasting our time jumping around trying to find a squad and squad leader that actually want to play using teamwork, tactics, and structure.

I suppose one way to organize this would be to exchange emails to create an email list. Whenever you feel like getting online and playing, dispatch an email to the group letting everyone else know that you're going on. Anyone else can then jump online with you, join your squad and get right to some good team-oriented gameplay.

Any thoughts?
Anyone like the idea and want to get it going?

PR Team Work

The PR Teamwork Alliance is a collective of PR clans that are in the same mindset as you who look for teamwork, tactics and all that good stuff... Even if you don't want to be part of a clan, the PRTA's aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere for anyone that joins their server. Make yourself known on their forums and I'm sure you'll find very active players that would be willing to squad up with you on a regular basis.

If that's not your cup of tea, stick to the servers you like and you'll get to know their individual communities soon enough.

You might want to get Xfire and add people from the forums. When I'm on and need some infantry, I'll ask FoxxyFrost or Ford or whoever and they jump on and we get a squad going.

Just keep pubbing with the same people and invite them to your squad, it'll be reoccurring after that.

Hey,

I was thinking about something like that. I actually wanted to create something that simply involved people that knew teamwork to use a tag so people would know they could trust them in their squad, but with 0 clan-like commitment.

Never did it because I got to the conclusion I don't like people with tags :P
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

This vaguely reminds me of my clan. Sure we're officially in the clan but no one does anything but **** around. The last time we had a scrim organized, almost no one volunteered resulting in the resignation of our frustrated scrim manager.

So yeah, CIA is an option. We aren't always tactically team-working, but we can we we want to.

Poss solution:
Use "#" as 1st character in your tag. e.g. #MYTAG

Just go on mumble and play on the same server for a few weeks you will join a casual group that already exsists . . . no need for creating a new one

Stick too a server in Good Standing and Just be a regular there. Start making squads or joining other squads and after some time you start to get to know more people and start making friends.

Thats the key to public organization!

Go to the clan section, find [kigo]. We are small casual group of ppl who like to play PR. We are very welcome on UNSTF servers and forums and we will evolve into a community soon. :)
Hope this helped.

Yeah, the thing about the tag wasn't something that would go to scrims.

Something more (actually, exactly like what T.A.Sharps said).

Well, we can do that. But honestly I think that we would need to get an X amount of players to start this (put the # as doop-de-doo suggested) and we "allow"/"invite" players to use such a tag once we play with them. Like a cancer, you know (no pun intended at all). Starts little and goes spreading. But it's not like we would do any battles and stuff, just something simple.

We could do that. A tag. # or [SQAY] tag. I honestly prefer the # because I dislike people with tags :P Save for a few exceptions (ie. Most NwAs, CIAs, you know, the works).

Should we do it? We get everyone interested in the forums (possibly on this thread) and start something like that? So we know that, when we see anyone with the # tag in front of them, we know we can trust them.

Only rule is, play fair and don't stain the tag ;)

Something like "instant credibility", you know?

I'm down with this. Anyone with me?

I try to join a squad with a server admin as the leader, they enforce teamwork and generally make the game better

I like it. It sure would be nice to pop into any ol' server and just find "the tag" rather than trial and error with crappy squads until you find a tolerable one. I just wonder if people who are already in clans would be down with adding yet another tag, even as simple as '#'

The guys with clan can keep their clan tag -- if their clan is respectful, they are as well. No need for the #, you know?

Amen to this thread. Its good to see there are others enjoying the teamwork. I lead a small group that does just as this thread is asking. It's started as a clan but as time moved on the few dedicated players/friends stayed and have worked well as a team. There isn't many of us (5 or so..not all on at the same time) but we enjoyrandom players in a server that join our squad and work well with the team.

Best ways we keep in communication is via Xfire. Also have started doing some Facebook stuff and we have a website as well.

Good luck on your ventures.

So is anyone serious about the '#' thing? I'm totally down! It can't hurt to at least try to get it going. Should someone start a thread explaining it? Maybe see if we can't get it stickied?

I'm down.

In-Game name: #GoGuapsy

EDIT: APPARENTLY THERE CAN'T BE THE # SIGN ON A NICK NAME. WHAT SHOULD WE HAVE, THEN?

AND HOW DO YOU ADD A CLAN TAG TO THE NAME?
