Because 6 man squads would have access to two auto rifleman kits which doesn't make sense as the M240 is fielded on the platoon level (in Australia at least) and in the US Army, it is fielded at one per fireteam, where two fireteams create a squad (needs confirmation, MA preferably)

If it was limited to one per two squads and would be not available if the squad already has an M249, it might work.

Then again, issues with other factions' would arise. The Russians for example, don't have a light SAW bar the RPK-74M which to my knowledge is used in very little numbers and is actually quite rare. Out of the whole South Ossetia ordeal photos, I saw it once in actual AK74M black furniture with a black polymer magazine.

It's the ELCAN, just on a weapon with a lot of kick to it, it's a nice MG, I prefer using the Iron Sights out of compatibility with me.

No, the M240 is also fielded at the platoon level in the US Army. In light infantry (including airborne and air assault) and Stryker infantry they are found in a platoon weapons squad. Stryker units have a weapons squad of 2 x MG teams and a squad leader, while light units have 2 x Javelin teams in addition to the MG teams in their weapons squad. Ranger platoons have an MG squad of 3 x MG teams, carrying M240 or Mk-48 according to METT.

Mechanized infantry (Bradley) issues M240s and Javelins from the platoon arms room to designated gunners in the dismount rifle squads (3 of them) according to METT.

The Marines have their M240s in the rifle company weapons platoon (6 x M240 teams of three in an MG Section) and they get "chopped" as required to the three rifle platoons or smaller units.

The M249 SAW is fielded one per four-man fire-team, just as the Minimi is in UK rifle sections. 2 x fire teams and a squad leader comprise a US Army rifle squad, and 3 x fire teams and a squad leader comprise a Marine rifle squad.
