Want to organize a casual group [not a clan]

Sorry I'm late to the discussion but I have one more thing to add.
Someone on the last page I think mentioned a specification for people willing to squad lead, I think that's a good idea so you know who can or will be your leader.
I would suggest using ^ or * to indicate this: #^ or #*

+ I think a new page would be good so that anyone looking at the thread for info can get all they need right on the front page rather than scrounging through this big one

Well we kinda got to the conclusion (I think) that labels such as that one are something kind of offset with the idea of this. This is not a clan. Therefore, it's not like we would "have" to play with eachother on the same squad. Though, of course, that will be fun, I don't think we need to create more specific markings.

What I mean is, in the end, why does it matter to know you can squad lead? You might as well volunteer or create your own squad, you know?

But I guess we'll let the people decide it. IMO I'd keep it simple - just the # tag (which was something opposed to what I defended before).

The more specific markings would probably make more sense if this gets big. TBH I do like the idea for markings - provides a "r?sum?" about you instantly to anyone who knows the #. But, what if they don't know #? What if that becomes so much clan-like? If you don't understand my point just state it I'll elaborate.

Although I have no intent of using the tag I must say its a pretty good idea. The #, #!, #+, #>, thing should be it, no more than that otherwise it just gets overly complicated.

I have seen people online wearing the Tag and it is more of a tip of the hat kind of deal. For instance, I felt like i could trust those people a little more to give me CAS coord's and such.

If you see this tag, you can expect someone that will perform his function as best as possible...so, "Serious" of sorts. It doesn't mean you're perfect or are going to have stellar performance.

As GoGuapsy had previously mentioned, it's not necessarily the "grouch" form of serious either, but the dedicated sort.

The extended tags are intended to provide opportunities where "#" tagged people can try to assist others in getting to their desired function where possible.

However, do not expect to be invited to a squad just because you have a tag. If you are invited, be courteous to the other who helped you. If you demand to be invited, you fail at the tag. You will have just become a regular a**hat pubbie in the eyes of your counterpart and probably to the rest of the team.

Of course you can request to be invited -- no one can keep you from doing that, but if denied, understand that the other tagged player has his own good reasons.


Conclusion:
"#" = 1. Dedicated 2. Not a F***tard.
No more, no less.

I honestly don't see the utility in adding the extra signs for Air, Inf, and Arm when you can just name the squad that way.. plus you can usually tell by looking at their kit icon what they are going to be. And some people switch a lot. I can just see people nagging on someone who has the Armor tag but is flying around in a chopper half the game... or switches teams and goes as a civilian.. I dunno!? lol

I see it more practical to only have TWO distinctions. # for Teamwork oriented player and ## for Teamwork oriented player willing to serve as squad leader if necessary. Clean & simple. Some people are not up for being a SL and it would be nice to be able to spot the ones who are.

You see, what is the actual use of knowing if you are willing to be a SL? I mean, if you wanna squad lead, do your own squad! I mean, I feel like this would seem like as if the people with double # were somewhat superior (?) to the one-tagged guys... I hope you got what I mean.

Of course each thing has its role. I would defend the idea that you only put the thing that you prefer after the # (still optional), like if you prefer infantry, do #!. Don't do #!> if you like both, just do the one you prefer... It's not like someone is blocking you from going into armors with the air tag... Makes sense?

That you gotta talk to a MOD. Let's see how it goes first. Should we do it on the Clan section or the General Discussion? (Because in General Discussion might attract people that just joined the game. Nothing against them, you know, but you better know how the game works - teamwork and stuff, not necessarily be "good" at it, unless you are going into Air )

Understand that the extended tags were created with the idea of providing opportunities for people with the same interest to be able "get each other in" that function. It's not mandatory that you only do that function, nor is it mandatory that you invite/be invited to that function.

The reason why I didn't think this necessary is that if folks are not interested in SL, they don't make squads. If people are interested in creating their own squad, they will. If, in a public server, the SL leaves and you don't want do lead, you say so. In the same scenario, if you are interested in taking over where the previous SL left off, you again, speak up. Simple as that.
Once more. If you want to SL, make your own squad. If not...don't.

We over at Cannon Fodder do allow for individual groups (eg. Non-clans) to join our ranks. We're a collaboration of clans and groups.

Still got a few kinks to work out, and a new website design, but for the most part we play a lot of games, almost always together. XD Currently trying to get them to play more PR, of course.

Notice how there's already a difference of opinion in how this idea should be employed - which is perfectly healthy in this context of this thread. I'd just hate to see the debate carry over in-game (e.g. "you shouldn't have the > tag on if you're just gonna be infantry.. you're abusing the tag you n00b.." then someone gets kicked for flaming.. etc. etc.)

My last vote, before you all do what you will: Don't complicate it. JUST # ... NOTHING ELSE ... CLEAN, SIMPLE, DONE. Let's play (with teamwork )
