Taliban and Breaching Slugs
Comparing american pricing for ammunition from a variety of sources, I've found that breaching slugs cost more than the standard 12 gauge 2 3/4 00 buckshot. I've found prices of breaching slugs to go from $4.73 to $2 per round. Regular buckshot can go from about 80 cents to about 48 cents per round.
Now, from what I've seen in PR, buckshot shotguns can breach doors, locks, etc. Wouldn't it be more cost-effective for the taliban to use regular buckshot rounds than specialty breaching slugs? I understand that american and middle-east markets will be different, but you'd think regular 12 gauge shotgun rounds would be cheaper?
tl;dr: Add / Replace Breaching Slugs with Buckshot rounds for Taliban (and any other unconventional faction), as regular 12 gauge rounds are cheaper and more numerous than breaching slugs.

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
Why does the breaching slug even exist?
(Point is, I don't know, but there must be a reason, which I don't know, for the Brit/US use breaching slugs instead of the buckshot. Ricochet, I suppose? If that's so, I think this makes sense).
Unless the DEVs have a Taliban Military Advisor... Which I am unaware of...

With my recent research in SWAT 4, breach shells blast metal at a lock instead of balls to bust the lock.

You have to remember that the Scout kit has a PPSh which is one of the most lethal weapons in the game. When instaproning, you are still guaranteed a hit due to its rate of fire as me and [PR|NATO]Blood-something discovered lastnight after getting killed by it.
Giving them a shotgun on-par with the Blufor's is just a bit too much overkill.
However on realistic grounds, you are quite right, how they managed to get breaching slugs from a civilian source is beyond me.

Breaching Slugs ensure that the projectiles don't go through the door and possibly injure or kill anyone on the other side.goguapsy wrote:Why does the breaching slug even exist?

The black market there is like the fruit stand in north america : D
Jokes aside, It's a realistic and good gameplay suggestion. Giving the shotgun to the scout kit makes it more versatile, not making the PPSH godly. Sure, ROF is nice and all. Just remember that it takes 3-4 pistol rounds to kill an armored target. Only takes 2 for rifle rounds
Plus PPSH has such low ammo count. Mags are big, but that just leaves more guessing.

That is a very good point actually, guess in theory it wouldn't make all that much difference.

Maybe he used all normal rounds and after ambushing US convoy found breaching slugs?
They use everything they can.

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
taliban should only have to punch the doorknobs to get out and dig the door itself to get back in. shotguns are not the way to go.
(and because it seems vaguley relevent. Homer's makeup shotgun

Ideally, yes, but they wouldn't have the key to every door, if thats what you're trying to mimic with the door punching.
Considering the M500 and Norinco 982 are both 12 gauge thats possible, but I think most troops will have their Mossbergs loaded with buckshot.Maybe he used all normal rounds and after ambushing US convoy found breaching slugs?

keys? you would prefare the realism of shooting your door to open it than to relinquish the realism of keys?dtacs wrote:Ideally, yes, but they wouldn't have the key to every door, if thats what you're trying to mimic with the door punching.

i can understand not using the bayonette jab to open stuff, but now that you can drop your kit to punch people, it makes more sense to open doors with the unarmed melee move.

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
No, what I'm saying is that YOU were trying to mimic actual opening of doors in PR by punching them. What I'm now saying is that doors need keys, and in a warzone I think majority of them would be locked, hence why breaching shotguns are used IRL.
If everyone could punch open a door however, the shotgun wouldn't be THAT useful as majority of people don't use it and stick to the rifle. (I do when going specialist)

do you think keys should be a pickup kit or a part of the taliban's officer kit?

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
Operation Ghost train showed it is possible to have operational doors(opening and closing). I guess if it were necessary to open a door instead of shoot it open it could be done.
Best line yet...

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
Breaching slug is a solid piece of metal which is designed to break hinges, locks, etc. The force at which it impacts said objects is much higher than buckshot. Small metal pellets dont necessarily have pack enough of a punch to do it. Then again the breachable doors look like they're made out of paper. ;D

Thats right however dynamic objects are severely limited, 64 I believe.Operation Ghost train showed it is possible to have operational doors(opening and closing). I guess if it were necessary to open a door instead of shoot it open it could be done.
If it was a way to open/close doors, definitely Officer and civilian. In order to keep the squad together for the former, and to encourage people to actually go civilian in the latter.do you think keys should be a pickup kit or a part of the taliban's officer kit?
Keys could actually work pretty well in PR. Funny thing is someone else had this exact same idea we've discussed over a year ago.

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
The "Key to open door" idea won't work, tbh. Unless you can find out how to make 2 different "modes" for the doors, one where if it was destroyed via force would have a hole in the mechanism, and one where it was opened by keys would just be, well, an unlocked door ^_^
You can argue that yes, maybe they stole breaching shotgun shells from Blufor. However, I doubt that they will field their fighters with shotguns, and then tell them they have to kill blufor for ammo ;P
Look up videos on youtube, and I think mythbusters did an episode where they were trying to prove if guns could break locks. IIRC some sort of pistol failed, m1 garand won, and a double barrel shotgun won. Although TV shows are, well, TV shows, I've failed to find similar videos on youtube. I do remember seeing someone quite upset with mythbusters when they used some sort of revolver to break open a similar lock.
Remember that regular buckshot in PR will bust open a door just like breaching slugs. I'm just trying to make the Taliban shotgun kits a bit more versatile

Re: Taliban and Breaching Slugs
To add to the functional door thought on Operation Ghost Train the door was only functional for one faction iirc. That could be useful for the taliban/insurgents to open the door while blufor cannot.
