I do it, but only on a handful of maps (Wanda, SEagle) as when I have 3 other infantry and an APC crew the infantry often has more survivability. My favorite tactic is to rush an objective, drop off the infantry, and tell the APC to do a once around the block so we can ensure there are no AT threats.

When the APC has a large cannon and thermals, its the other way around with the infantry supporting the APC.

No while you may be right in saying it has more survivability, it would be much better off working in the light tank method that will, quite simply, kill more of them than us, by using the 'tickets as opposed to objectives' mindset.

If you use Infantry & the APC together the APC WILL survive 9/10 times, get on mumble so you can communicate, & roll up together, if you see an RPG/LAT shout it out & everyone will open up on the target & the LAT will miss (Or in a rare case on Muttrah... shot at the wrong APC & blow it up... *facepalm*).

Statistics don't work here, plus with the spontaneity and randomness of combat in PR (majority thanks to the no realistic fear of death) AT operators will usually sacrifice their lives to destroy an asset.

Hard to destroy an asset when you're being suppressed, that's what the suppression effect is for.

Which often doesn't work and/or is pretty buggy. Example being crouching for RPG deviation, then popping up to take the shot before the vehicle can take you down.

Seriously IFantry squads? come to the =HOG= muttrah server and squad lead to your hearts content. Most times i have to leave the huey or aav squad to build fobs...sometimes even on 32/32. I find that people want to be in an Infantry but you have total disarray now at the start of rounds where we cant text or commander blasting his ideas while you are sorting out your squad of 3 with mics 2 afk wtf. Its probally not going to change with less vehicles but I smile when the CAS huey goes down so we free up a squad.

Also most people dont use the AAV anymore, mtlb's 20 percent dont get used becasue they are frustrating to turn and start movement speed is delayed back to like last week.

I think AAv is cool, but all i hear is LAV LAV I MISS MY LAV...

PR is very good its us that aren't IMHO.

PR is made I feel to replicate RL tactics where the infantry call in heavy assets on a target before moving in to mop up, destroy enemy firebases and deployed assets.

The problems come from lack of communications from not enough players on mumble or no CO and even in the worst case squads not working together or obeying their CO.

If players could have a more teamwork mentality from just watching to see what other squads are doing, defending a bit more often, waiting for heavy assets to become available before attacking, checking for AA or HAT/TOW before calling in air or armour....

A minute sat still waiting feels so long on this game.

Afaik PR is the ONLY game that needs this level of comms and teamwork and we the gamers fed on a diet of K/D, insta respawns ala MW, COD etc find it hard to adjust.

There are obviously many gamers who do have the patience and can use it or ARMA wouldn't sell.

The times when as SL on a full mumble server are what PR is all about to me.

I don't think that PR itself has strayed from it's roots. I think that the players have, to an extent. I still manage to get at least 2 good games of solid teamwork a day when I play. It all depends on who you are gaming with. The best servers, hold the best chance for the best teamwork. If you're not finding it than change servers because there are definitely proper ones out there.

If you're organized beforehand and know everyone involved it tends to Jaymz, and that goes for most all tactics in PR.

Trying it with pubbers is a good way to lose 18+ tickets, fast.

In my opinion it has changed for the worse. 0.75 was the last good version of PR .8 was bad, .95 is mediocre. Gameplay has been slowed down far too much by the increase in map size and removal of rallies (obviously referring to inf perspective). So it's not much wonder that people are preferring to stick with vehicles when inf takes 10 minutes just to get into the fight (not to mention the chore of making firebases just to have a reasonable respawn point).

Additionally I would say the old versions were made more oriented to a balance of gameplay and realism, whereas now more things have been added to attempt to control player behavior (ie suppression effect) and more things are being shoehorned into the game under the pretense of realism, when they do not fit with gameplay.

They can do it. Easily. it works - i've done it.

Using Fire & manoeuvre works brilliantly against pubbies, I did it when leading an Ollld Clan squad.

The reason you don't see anyone using it is because no one uses it, therefore no one see's anyone using it so don't do it themselves. Also hardly anyone knows how to use it properly. People don't use it because they don't think about it because they don't use it. it's not PRs fault it's the hard coded players. Hardly anyone even uses Suppressing fire, people to shoot to wound, when I can assure you the suppression effect is not bugged (if someone's crouching behind cover & you open up on them even if you can't see them they will get suppressed, so when they pop up, in the 1 or 2 seconds they have before getting their heads blown off they still won't be able to see the APC properly) & works well, just no one does it.
