Why do/don't you support?

Post by mockingbird0901 »

My apologies if this kind of subject is a no-go for some reason.

As the title say.. It just crossed my mind. There seem to be so many out there expressing their love for this mod, talking about how its the only (or one of the few) games they play, yet I don't see all that many supporting members. As we all know, money (sadly) is one of the things that makes the earth spin. That includes this mod.

So with that established, why don't more members give their support to the team, to indirectly help develop the mod, resulting in an even better product. Think about it. Many, myself included until now, have not given anything back to the community. For me it was the thought 'Why should I?', witch then have gotten replaced by the thought 'Why shouldn't I?' that drove me.
As this is a game developed by real people living real lives needing real money to do so, I think its only fair that we give these great guys (and perhaps girls...) something back, don't you think? :D

So what I'm really interested in here then, is why do/don't you support?
As for me, I just did! :goodvibes
Any thoughts on the matter?

I don't support because I am still in High School and I am lazy. Probably when I finish high school, college, have a stable life and some spare cash I will start supporting mods.

I don't support anymore because of a mod's attitude with me about an infraction that was just an oops on my part, nothing malicious, damaging or harmful. His unwillingness to discuss the issue and instead just tell me to deal with it.
I was planning to try to donate every other month.(finances willing)
Best line yet...

Lack of spare money as with almost everyone else I guess. I'm pretty sure I would support if I had the possibility. And in my priority list upgrading my PC so it can handle PR on higher settings is more important.

Sounds like u mad.
Take it up with someone if it's that big of a deal. Why deprive the DEVs for some MODs bad day?

As for myself, I don't because I am a college student and supporting memberships at TG cost enough as it is. Once I have an actual income I'll be able to divulge some to the devs for their hookers and blow.

because art school is expensive, and i have no credit card...yet. when those barriers open up i'll be sure to give to the mod.

I'm currently not supporting. The major reasons why is that I don't own a credit card and I'm not familiar with the PayPal method.

Still I am sure that I will donate in the future.

Active duty E-3 in Hawaii may sound nice and all but it is REALLY expensive to live in Hawaii. Otherwise, yes I would support the mod.

I won't support not because I don't want but because I can't, Because I am still 16 and I don't have my own money, nor credit card.
Put yourself in my position will you do the following:
Dad, I want you to donate some money to the Project Reality team please.
WTF is the Project Reality.
Besides my father doesn't buy products online from outside my country because he is a bit old fashioned and he fears to be robbed.

You won't support because you get a 2 point "useless post" infraction (while you need 10 points to even get a temporary ban) for posting in a suggestions thread after more than two years?

Worst excuse I've heard so far :p Also, why didn't you just take up with me if you couldn't work things out with the moderator himself?

Nevermind that the moderator team does not really have anything to do with the development side of the team...

Just did, finally.

Supporting good game development will help ensure good games keep getting made, and getting made better. After a marathon 8 hour PR session yesterday, I felt guilty for not donating to this point.

Brush the dust off of your Visas, folks! =)

Okay I'm gonna be the a**hole and say this but the mod is free and I take advantage of that fact because I'm a cheap ******* .. Nah not really but I have a life like many others in here and a girlfriend (surprise face) (and let me tell you: Girlfriends don't come cheap ;-) )... Other than that I'm just a poor student that likes to have some fun once in a while in real life. If I had a regular job I would probably donate to see PR2 released ASAP (and I would still pay for it when it comes out).
... Hell if I had alot of money I would probably try to convince the whole DEV team to sell me the publisher rights for PR2 :D
