Specialist grapple hook deployment

I've been playing PR for a long time, so I'm a little bit embarrased to ask this , but how do you deploy the grapling hook on top of the roof so you can get down. I was trying this for an hour straight and found it impossible. I figured that you probably need to use RMB but I could not find a way to make the rope drop down beside the wall so I could get down. It just kept piling up on the edge of the roof.

can somebody please assist.

Stand next to the edge, and quickly tap RMB to drop the grapple hook at your feet. The rope should dangle down for you to climb down with.

Same drop function works with all throw-able equipment like grenades, rocks etc.

i stand like 2-3 meters away from the edge and then throw (with left click) pretty much straight out (not looking down). this should push the grapple over the edge with its "tail" landing on your feet so it doesnt fall over the edge

( i like this way easier cuz RMB method has some risk of losing the rope which is pretty bad when you're high up somewhere. )

I think this is exactly what tried to do. How close to the edge you have to be? like just on the edge where you almost drop or is there a certain lenght. I'll keep trying =)

I don't understand how can it work with LMB, but I'll try that aswell. thanks.

This ^^ also if you right click on the edge as has been suggested some of your body sticks over the ledge as you deploy the grapple making it easier for you to get shot.

Neat video - thanks for putting that together, I didn't realize all the crazy things you could do. Heck, I just recently realized you could re-grab the rope if you fell from a bad connection at the top, etc. Huge ticket saver.
