Ultra Small FOBs

Post by Bazul14 »

After reading a couple of topics I decided that this might actually be an improvement to PR.

How about all FOBs, (Including Hideouts) consist of either what is it now, or a small table with a radio on it. This would allow a more realistic, and longer life span of FOBs. It is fairly easy to pick out FOBs with the UAV. Placing them in rooms would prevent FOB sniping. To counter balance this, they could be made so that weapon platforms(TOW/AA/HMGs etc) are available with 3 crates at least. Actually, even the current system would do well.

This is because I doubt that IRL an unit would deploy their communications center in the middle of the field instead of a safe basement or room.

While this might make FOBs harder to find, it would provide the players with some more action. To minimize the spawn and shoot problem, there should be implemented something like if there is enemy inf in the close proximity(50m/100m/250m,depends on the map/choice) then the FOB is unusable. Until some minutes later when the enemy is gone.

"Alright Men! We have to take this table and this radio and put them is THIS *points* room! COME ON WE NEED THIS FOB HERE"

I say no for realism purposes. Reinforcements don't come out of radios.

I thought the idea of the netting above FOB's was to hide them

I don't really like the idea much as well.

FOB camping/sniping wouldn't happen if the FOB was placed in a proper spot in the first place.
It's not that hard to conceal a FOB from an area which you know the enemy will be watching from.

Having it work with just a table and a radio would be like in the old days where people would just spawn on a bunch of bags (Rallys) the SLs just shit out anywhere.

and afaik currently, spawning on FOBs is disabled when enemies are near the FOB for too long.

Its not really possible to have the netting actually 'work' in this engine.

how can realism even be brought up here? soldiers dont spawn from a mount of dirt and sandbags with camo netting either. it's just a metaphor for a replacement soldier reporting in to his respective FOB before engaging in combat. and honestly being forced to build an FOB with camo netting in an urban environment where there are no trees is kind of retarded.

re suggestion btw, it's been brought up before. though i dont remember why it was not accepted.
