About Graphics levels and fps levels

Post by Okita »

Hey guys.

As the title states, I have noticed that the majority of you guys play on high,
It seems when i play on high, i get pretty good FPS, but once I enter a town,
such as iron eagle, or fullajah west, it gets pretty bad, its still playable but the
FPS drop is major, Im using a ATI Radeon 5870 GPU and I have 4gb worth of RAM.
What about you guys? Get bad FPS etc?

I have an i7 930 @ 2.8GHz, a 5850 (OC'd), and 6 GB DDR3 RAM. As far as I can tell the only time I lag is in dust clouds.
What CPU do you have and what kind of RAM is that?

You are going to have to specify your graphics card, my last laptop (over 3 years old) had GT 8600M SLi with a 2.2ghz C2D t7500, 4GB RAM and I don't believe it ever lagged even at max 1680x1050 with AA.
My Notebook: Clevo X7200
i7 980x - SLi GTX 480M - 12GB Corsair 1333mhz

What resolution do you run at?
Also check your Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and make sure the 3D settings are all set to let the application decide.

It's understandable that those resolutions would cause lag, but I'm not sure that it would lag that much with a 5870. Do you run all high settings including 8x AA? If so I would suggest setting your AA to 4x and then giving it a test run. You should monitor your card's heat while gaming too so you can be sure it's not overheating. Also does your card have 1GB of memory?
It's late here now though. I'll be on tomorrow and can help you more then.

ATI HD 4850
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83ghz
6GB RAM.

Always get ~130 fps, however it will drop to 30 min, 20 yamalia with the grass, lots of smoke, etc.

I got an I7 920, 12GB DDR3-1600 RAM, a Nvidia GTX295 all running at stock settings on a 24" (1920x1080) screen and I sure get drops in cities but it remains a playable fps (40+)..

I think it's the BF2 engine that wasn't made for this kind of eye candy since newer games run about the same and sometimes even better. The GTX 295 is a beast though  .

I have a Core 2 Duo E8400, 4 gig memory, ATI Radeon HD4800 512mb and I don't lag with all on high. Got quite a small screen though.

Question:
in former versions as far as i know you couldn't play on some resolutions, (as you go ingame PR would crash to desktop)
is that problem gone with the new ones? because i play on **** resolutions since ever because of that!

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro
2,16GHz Core 2 Duo
3GB RAM
128MB Radeon X1600
It only runs smoothly at minimum settings and 1440x900. Maybe I will have to upgrade for 1.0, since .85 and .9 both halved my FPS.

EDIT: Running Windows with Bootcamp

well guys, im on windows 7 home 64 bit, and im not on aerothemes, its off.
And i just set my CCC to run with game default. And I get really bad FPS when in maps with lots of buildings,
such as fullajah for instance. I have set my AA to like X2 in game, and its real bad. Any idea how do i get rid of this bad FPS? it really affects me at CQC

Guys, what about your sound settings? Seriously, are they set on high-software, High-Hardware, is EAX enabled?

I find the best way to get the most juice out of my Rig is to set my Sound settings to:

Hardware
High
EAX UNchecked

I believe this is a massive resource hog.

Try it and see what happens.

Edit: Oh and Textures Set to medium if that helps

i7 920 @ 4.1, 12gig ram, 59704GB, 3x 27" screens(play bf2/pr on middle one only), everything maxed out completely and I run at 100+ FPS at all times, any area or situation.
