Internal comms

Post by Zazane »

With the VOIP support added to BF2, I had a thought about radio traffic becoming a bit of a problem. You could cut a lot of it out by giving people in a vehicle the option to transmit only to the people in the same tank, helo or whatever. A possible variation may be to allow only the person in the vehicle commander position to broadcast over the wide radio network while all the other positions transmit internally. I'm unsure if that will be achievable with the engine, but I really think this would enhance the game.

The way BF2 VOIP works is that members of a squad can only talk to each other, and only the squad leaders can talk to the commander.

This is a public game we're talking about here. Theory goes right out the window when the publics servers get more than 3 people on them.

I don't know how the VOIP will work, but hopefully it'll be limited to squads, etc

Grand, I never knew the specifics of the VOIP system they had in place. Maybe there's a way to manipulate the code to form/join a squad when you enter a vehicle?

he has a point whith this i think. you see battlefield comunication as is in the game seems a little to simplifyed, with the coms system in place now there is now way to reach out to the other squads directly, you always have to go thru a puck *** comander to get what you want form a nother squad, such as air suport, there have been maby times that i have seen the need for a very simple bomb run, but there was no way for me to quckly call in a bomber and the artilery seems rather less riliable than a bomber. sence the bomber was in a nother squad or not in a squad i had to touf it out. if i could have spoke directly to the squad leader or evin the man in the plane himself i could have hade the **** blown out of the oposition and gone on my way. that would be more realistic if it can be done, and if it can't i gues i will have to learn to tyep faster then hu?
