Two or three depending on caliber, range etc unless it's in the head which is a one shot kill.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

The "7.62" is not the same for the AK, G3 and Dragunov. All those guns, in real life and in game, perform very differently, and the rounds they use are not the same either.

Therefore: Assuming body hits against armored targets, you'll need 3 with an M16, 2 with a G3 and 2 or 3 with an AK (drops damage soon, but at close range I think it gets you to black and white with 2 shots). G3 causes 50% damage to an armored target, M16 about 33%, AK sth like 40%. There was a table for that somewhere.

anyway, if you get hit twice with any weapon, you want to get to a medic asap.
I've never noticed much difference between calibres, apart from fire-rate and recoil, all weaponsclasses(assault, marksman and sniper rifles, at-weapons and pistols especially) play more or less the same and typically require 2 hits unless you get lucky and score a headshot.

If your enemy is sprinting at you and spraying, you'll die on the first bullet.
If your target is afk, 10 bullets
If your behind the target with a handgun leveled at his head, switch weapons...

Wrong. I do fine with handguns (aim a little lower than the helmet, head hitbox is a bit small and/or the pistol sights are a bit low, which isn't really unrealistic since you couldn't see the target otherwise). The rest is just bad luck; moving and spraying IS less accurate than standing and taking single shots. The 10 shots at an AFK player are not wrong, given quite some distance.

why would ppl use lower calibur bullets then if they do so much less damage then the g3 or ak, they aren't even that accurate!!

because 1 hurt man = 2 extra people treating him. you effectively reduced the hostile force by 3.

if you kill a guy, you effectively reduced the hostile forces by 1

and 3>1, thats why

While lower caliber rifles do less damage, they also tend to not have as much recoil.
So, while you take 2 shots to kill someone and I take 3, I also recover from recoil slightly quicker and can get the 3 shots off in the same time you can get 2 off.

And lower caliber rifles also tend to have other nice things. I personally like the ACOG more than I do the G3's scope. And I also like having 30 rounds a mag, and 8 mags, over 20 rounds a mag and 6 mags.

An explosive, shooting a swimmer or getting a headshot is the only way to kill anybody.

While this is true, the primary reason that NATO favour the smaller calibre is due to the weight reduction, a soldier can carry twice as much 5.56x45 as 7.62x51. This is very much the case in project reality too. Unless I'm much mistaken a NATO infantryman caries 9 magazines of 30 5.56 rounds, 270 in all (including the one that is loaded at the start) whereas an MEC equvalent would have 7 mag of 20 7.62, adding to 140 rounds in all.

Depends if he has a medic in his team. if he does you'll be there all day lol.

Generally I find that you can take people down easier with the larger calibres, stay away from the sapper's gun though, it's a peashooter.

Recoil my ***!! You don't need to pull off three shots if you can take them down with 3. I can't seem to hit anythings with M16 anyways even if I wait like 10 seconds, maybe thats why I hate small caliburs.

I have never ever even hit anyone with a handgun (That I know of). Even when the guy is 5 meters in front of me, I'll be shooting at him and I see no dust flying out of his body.
