Yes...the minigun is more powerfull than the 7 hydras and mounted 50 cal...Nebsif wrote:BH can survive TWO RPG hits and RTB, increase it's damage and it will be better than kiowa :S
/sarcasm off
Hell, the Kiowa's mounted 50 cal does like 5x the damage the minigun does, ad I think at a faster rate too.

Yes, but the kiowa can get shot down easily while a BH is like a hovering APC in terms of armor.

Its already been discussed, sorry you missed it, but did you know it take just ONE rpg or AA to bring down a BH? So no, its not a flying tank, my friend. It is still very fragile.Nebsif wrote:Yes, but the kiowa can get shot down easily while a BH is like a hovering APC in terms of armor.

I have seen a BH go down the other day on Kokan on the H server by the GP grenade launcher... Epic shot... IDK if he killed the pilot or it just blew but it was an amazing hit... It was hovering over insurgent FOB spawn point trying to get kills for the gunners and all of a sudden this guy drives up the ammo techi and boom... amazing shot.Operator009 wrote:Its already been discussed, sorry you missed it, but did you know it take just ONE rpg or AA to bring down a BH? I just love Transport copter door gunners. EVERY time a new version is released i see blackhawks being used a Spectre Gunships, and i love seeing the same result everytime. I see more crashed trans copter wrecks than ever it seems thesedays. Pretty soon people give up using them for anything other than as they are intended, suppression of enemy infantry during hot lz pickups/dropoffs.
One day the pilot will have a "Master-Arm" switch in the cockpit and being a transport pilot will be a pleasure.

but honestly, how players use assets (or in this case abuse them) is not the fault of design or balance. It is a failure on the players part to use a vehicle in an unintended fashion. I implore you not to judge the BH guns unworthy of a damage upgrade simply because stupid BH teams would potentially fail in using the miniguns for suppression on an LZ, and not as a 'spooky'.

What's a Master arm switch? :S
Also I like the mini-guns as they are atm, the Black hawk can provide limited close air support, but it's very limited so there's no point doing it without doing the transport bit.

I'm guessing it's a switch which you can use to turn all the door guns on and off.Herbiie wrote:What's a Master arm switch? :S

master arm is a switch that overrides every other switches and triggers in this case miniguns are off/on...
hope this helped

Obviously you forgot the entire discussion that players are hardcoded and will always use the asset in a stupid way if they can...Jorgee! wrote:Its not supossed to be used in that way but its not supossed to be weak neither........ if someone uses the asset in a bad way it's not assets fault.

Re: Stronger Bullet Damage For BlackHawk Door Guns
To counter wrong behaviour you could make it like the TOW HMMWV, so that the gun doesn't function when the chopper flies at high speeds. By doing so, the chopper must fly slow to act as a gunship making it easy to shoot down.
During landing the gun would be able to shoot because the chopper has to slow down to land safely. If you apply such a system + more damage it could work, but why do all the effort when the current damage does the same job?
I still think the guns should be removed, look at similar trans-choppers in game like the Huey, Merlin, Chinook. They don't have guns, and still perform just as well if not better because they are used in the right way..

Re: Stronger Bullet Damage For BlackHawk Door Guns
Taking the guns out of the BH would instantly kill the 'Reality' part of the game in that regard. My opinion is thus: Increase damage just a tad, increase accuracy just a tad. As it has been posted before, the BH is not to be used for CAS, so don't give it that capability. But nonetheless, the guns are truly underpowered for what they are, so tweak them.

Re: Stronger Bullet Damage For BlackHawk Door Guns
The problem is in real life people actually care for their blackhawks as if they get shot down they die. In PR if they lose a backhawk no big deal just respawn so that's why people are using it for CAS runs

This right here seems like a good solution if the damage output of it is increased.DenvH wrote:To counter wrong behaviour you could make it like the TOW HMMWV, so that the gun doesn't function when the chopper flies at high speeds.
