Using a xbox controller for flying in PR?
Hey all, I' just wondering if I can use a third party controller for flying planes and helicopters in PR. I want to use my old Xbox powerpad controller.

You probably could, rerouting the axis for flight, updating drivers for that thing, but I find a joystick to be the best solution to flying helicopters and jets.

I've tried to use Xbox 360 controller before, I've not had much luck personally.

for flying a helo probably not, but as a helo or crows gunner, yes it would be very realistic.

I tried, I didnt work too well. The sticks were way too sensitive, just one little push sent my helicopter into the ground. You really cant fine tune your flying like you could if you were using a mouse or joystik.

I got it working fine with my wireless 360 controller, just had problems since the official drivers didn't have any deadzone adjustments, so it was kinda fail. Had to edit controls.con manually, and use these drivers with a tonne of settings changed, but in the end I just gave up because I wasn't as good as I was when using keyboard only for flying stuff

I'm curious to know what you'd assign to throttle on that contraption.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

L1 and R1, It's a regular Xbox 1 controller with a soldered on USB male.mat552 wrote:I'm curious to know what you'd assign to throttle on that contraption.
Can somebody please tell me what some of the stuff here does? I'm new to controllers.
What should I configure for optimal flight in a jet or helicopter? LT and RT are the throttle like controls on the front of the controller, should I use those for speed etc? I have two of them. Also note RS and LS stand for right stick and left stick button but right stick is out of commision, it is too sensetive so it is uselsss as you push it anyways while oving the right stick. ( you can push them down as a extra button ).

I have done the exact as the post above me. But throttle doesn't work. Its either full speed or no input. I tried it for jets. But im just much better with a mouse so i gave up on it. Also i think those drivers dont work on win7. As they do not have a official signature.

My throttle works, that sucks for you. I have not tried them on Windows 7 as my gaming pc is in parts being mailed to me as we speak. But Nvidia beta drivers are not digitally signed so I don't see a problem. The only thing you gotta do is everytime you plug in the controller you have to reassign the drivers to the device.Mora wrote:I have done the exact as the post above me. But throttle doesn't work. I have tried it too. The best method is still mouse and keyboard. Try setting deafault controls then move sensitivity to 1.0. See if that helps
