Excellent community

Post by PvrRAGER »

I'm a new player to this mod but already I'm loving this game. The purpose of my thread is not to praise this incredible game though. I'm writing this to acknowledge the community. I've been playing this game for a week now and NOT ONCE was I given a hard time for being a newb.

I explained to players that I was new, I asked simple questions and I got answers and was never given any grief. I'm no stranger to games and some communities can be ruthless to new players, but that isn't an issue here. From the time I've spent playing this game, I've noticed dedication to playing the game it was meant to be played and respect for the player.

Today I had my first experience as Squad Leader (not by choice either, lol) and I explained to my squad mates that I was new and I didn't want the responsibility in fear of ruining the squad's great efforts they were making to clearing out all the weapon caches on an insurgency map. I can't remember his name off the top of my head but he says to me, "thats no problem, we will walk you through it."

And he did just that and no one else in the squad had a problem with it either, he taught me a little about a squad leader (enough so the squad could finish getting the last 2 caches and winning the match) and took the stress off me for the most part about leading a squad for the first time.

I just want to say thank you to community for being supportive and understanding to new players. I and I'm sure other new players appreciate your patience and I'm excited that I finally found a fps mod that fits all my needs.

Yay! Hello! Glad you are enjoying the game.

Which servers have you been playing? And have you tried mumble yet? It's so fun 8)
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

I'm on the East Coast so I'm playing servers with ping less than 100 for me (which isn't many) so I'm only playing at 3 servers. They're almost always full too so its hard to even play sometimes.

I downloaded mumble but I'm not sure what it does... What is it??

It allows you to talk to team members near you regardless of squad and it adjusts volume and direction according to where the speaker is in the game world.

True that, I'm also new and the community is just awesome! guys like Wicca and Mr.Hyde really helped me out, thanks to them I now know how to use the mortars, medic kit, sapper kit, grenadier, specialist and much more thanks to this guys and some others that I can't remember their nicknames. (Sorry about that)

I've tried being a SL yesterday and I kinda got the concept of it, need some more training.. :) but I'm going back to the army and will come back in 2 or 3 weeks, will still come by to the forum now and then tho :) (kinda supposed to be on my way back to the base already but I made up an excuse to stay home a bit more, sneaky me :P )

If you ask a moderator, I think they would be able to change it.
Anyway, Welcome to the community, From your passage above I could understand that you read the manual, But if you did not, do it because it has very helpful information.
If you have any Other questions, You can ask via in game VOIP or in the chat.
I would suggest that you go to a COOP server and try all of the weapons to get the hang of them, Also if you are a chopper lover, Don't fly in deployment unless you have had some practice first because a bad pilot is worse than no pilot at all!
