Didn't see this in the Previous Suggestions bit even though i'm sure it's been asked.

Just on the Enter Key map, having contours instead of shadows would be great, might help the 'is that a valley or a hill' question that sometimes pops up, as well as aiding Squad Leading with a more intuitive thing to plan movement accross.

I'm sure there is a good reason it's not implemented, but as mentioned haven't seen it suggested.

iirc someone had done this in the community modding section. Don't know what became of it

If possible i'd like to see this for SLs, so they can more accurately calculate the height difference for mortars, probably not doable though :(

Someone was working on maps like this before for one of the older PR releases.

It takes alot of time and effort to make. You have to either draw all the lines yourself or use some sort of program that scans the heightmap (I havent heard of any program like this) and produces the lines, but even then, you would still have to draw out all the buildings, trees, roads ect.


A normal minimap requires a few mouse clicks and can be made in minutes. It is therefore much easier to make and remake if the map gets updated.

This was done in 20 minutes, all from the heightmap of Kashan Desert with Photoshop. It has some minor flaws and is far from being perfect not to mention that it looks ugly, but it goes to say that it's not such a big task to create contoured topology maps for PR.
I don't know what the height levels are in meters, but it wouldn't take long to figure that out with bfeditor. This was just me messing with photoshop :mrgreen:

Nice, now you have to draw all the buildings... and make the same for every other maps... good luck.

FYI, you'll notice that I was one of the original members of the topo map project, it's been dropped for good reason.
