How do we tolerate long spawn times?
I am curious as hell, when I play other fps games such as Cod, BF, etc. I can't tolerate spawn times that are 1-10 seconds long.
But in PR I always tolerate 50 seconds to 80 seconds spawn time and always seem happy.
I think this could apply to many PR players who play other fps games
Any theories to this unusual behavior?

We don't die in 3 secs
The glass is neither half empty nor half full, it's just twice the size it needed to be.

Re: How do we tolerate long spawn times?
A 30 second spawn time is a pretty good penalty for a 10 to 15 minute life.
As long as you are playing to the benefits of the spawn system (completeing objectives etc with your squad) your spawn time should stay fairly low.

Its a break from long gameplay, can run off, get a drink real quick, bring up in game browser from x-fire

It doesn't bother me, usually gives me time to ask my squad mate, "What the floop just killed us?"
Then change our strategy.

I usually do some small things (IE: Bathroom, Drink, etc) while I wait, I find it quite enjoyable to take a break here and there.

I guess like some people said, it has to do with the fact that PR's gameplay is also slowpaced and we all live longer in the game.

Longer life and using the time to do something else, laptop, get food, whatever.

Since you stay alive longer in PR, a 30 seconds brake is very welcomed

Re: How do we tolerate long spawn times?
Because you can talk. When I die in most games, that's it. Just waiting then. In PR, I can be sure to either have a squad fighting next to my body and can hope for a revive and listen to the combat going on (a fight that actually matters, not like in Counter Strike or Counter Strike 2 (aka Modern Warfare) where I don't give a damn about who wins) or all my squad is dead as well, which means we'll talk about the next approach, where to spawn, etc.
Also, what everyone said. It doesn't happen that often. In most games you think "Ah, shit, that camper killed me again! REVENGE!!! Be faster, respawn timer! Faster!!1". In PR it's more like "Oh well, guess that didn't work. Next time we shouldn't go this far ahead without at least APC support".

Kill people within task range, it knocks off time.
For the "DEAD" screen, read a book, for instance, the PR Manual

Re: How do we tolerate long spawn times?
its probably the 30sec mini breaks that allow me to play PR for hours on end. Doesn't really happen if i play say BC2 or MoH

Most time it's like 30secs, I don't really mind it, unless I just spawned ( less than 5 minutes of being active ), for example, MEC gets all flags on Muttrah, and you're on US, you get a chopper to the docks, getting instantly killed.

As well as having some time to get food or have a pee, you also get the communication between squad mates. You're still involved in the game because you'll be calling for a medic or giving intel on what just shot you.

Re: How do we tolerate long spawn times?
Usually i wait if by any chance a medic would come and heal me up. When the 30 seconds are gone and there is no medic i give up and the the spawn time is 5 seconds. Otherwise when there really is long time (like when u kill a civi) I usually fill up my water bottle.

I go into zombie mode, my heart beats synchronize with the seconds left, I stare at the counter until I spawn again.
I don't do toilets or refrigerators.

Re: How do we tolerate long spawn times?
the slower pace of gameplay makes this I guess, in call of duty you rush in to play, sprint along the map and in a rush of adrenalin you kill a few guys, die and itch to get back to the fight to have your revenge.
in PR you hardly get spawnkilled, most of the time need a couple of minutes before you get close to a hot zone etc.
interesting point you brought up!
