1. It's long enough to ALT+TAB, while 10-15 secs forces you to stay in game watching the counter.

2. Mostly you get to play multiple minutes, even ? an hour before you die as opposed to few seconds, or way too often just a fraction of second, in a fast game.

Take a break, PRs a great game but having a strech is never bad.

The spawn times are hardly what I'd call long...
Smeggles: 'Ghost Rider', 'Hitman' and callsigns like that will most likely me ignored and responded by, "Raging Boner 1, requesting splash!"

The whole basis of strategic game-play would be broken with very short spawn times. For example TF2 servers that run instant re-spawn just become stalemates quickly as nobody can progress faster than the other team can re-spawn and get back into position.

I've redeployed my secondary gaming computer (used to run BF2cc back in BF2's good old days) as the web browsing while dead/loading/waiting for a spawn computer.

Its not bad, E6300, 3gb, 8600GTS.

Spawntimes are great moments to play a whole round of MW2

I enjoy the spawntimes. like most people have said its a welcome break during long matches. And since the emphasis of any random PR match isnt a blind rush like every other multiplayer shooter patience comes naturally.

In the few times ive played PR with my roomate, we turned dieing into a drinking game or push-up or both. You die, you run a beer until you can spawn again.....it really sounded good on paper.

Solution...

Avoid die for foolish things.

Dont run as a blindman in the crossfire...
chose "I must stay alive" and not "where is the enemy, i must kill him!!!"

That way you dont need tolerate the spawn time. Is hard but...

I usually just do a few push ups or a set with dumbbells in between lifes/when maps are loading.

PR is an quasi-excercise program for me.

Several reasons why:
1. We don't get killed 10 seconds after each of our spawns, we may stay alive for 5-30 minutes at a time, a 30 second break is nothing
2. We have developed patience
3. We don't have ADD like the console kiddies
4. Gives us an opportunity to plan, regroup, get a drink, get a snack, etc
5. Think of it as a relaxing 30 seconds after a hard fought fight
6. An opportunity to reflect on your mistakes/ what got you killed

The list goes on, but I suffer from:

Project Reality Syndrome/Disorder: The state in which after prolonged exposure to Project Reality, one cannot tolerate playing other military shooters simply because of their simplicity and stupidity, all other military shooters are physically and mentally painful to play. Note that this does not effect other genres such as roleplaying, strategy, zombie, and so on. But only Military shooters such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2, and so on.

Plan : Dont die.

Find a squad with a good SL, stand by SQ, Medic is always there and you wont die.

The best way to tolerate long spawn times is that you don't die but if you have long spawn times do a quick activity e.g. get a drink or snack. The other thing is just sit waiting for you to spawn in and choice your kit and sort out your next mission if SL.
