Can SL put move markers on map?

Does the SL have to be at the location to put a marker down, or can he place it via his map? One time I got a map that I could put markers down, but could never replicate it. Searching doesn't turn up answers, unfortunately.

Yes he can, But you can no longer see the marker in the game it self unless you were within 120M of it.
Instead, Now you have a small "^" on your compass to tell you what direction that marker is.

Nope, just look where you want to put it, press 'T' and it'll be placed on the map. Or in Caps lock map, right click and select 'MOVE' or the little yellow arrow and it'll place where you right clicked.

A little off topic but in the vanilla BF2. Using the squad leader markers are a great way to call in airstrikes.

it was also a great way to call in BVR fire, which is why it was taken out.
