I am a younger guy (15) so talking with adults in this type of setting is a little off putting to me, but I do have a mic. I also understand the basic premise of PR, seeing as it's a realism mod I know I won't be jumping around 360 no scoping people like in CoD. I tried insurgency and that was fun, hopefully the scale makes this even better.

At the moment though I am having a CD Key invalid error, damn steam.

Ah, no problem mate, you'd be surprised at how many of the regular players here are quite young or started playing PR when they were very young.

And the problems start.

DL'd and installed all three fine, to steam/games/battlefield 2, if I remember right. All three icons now appeared on my desktop. I click the PR one with Admin rights on, allow it through, and the loading box comes up, with the dog tags on the left and 'PR' on the right. However, it just loads and loads, then suddenly disappears and stops working. WTH?!

Hm. How often did you try it? My PR sometimes needs some convincing until it starts up, but if it doesn't work several times in a row, it's probably a real problem. Your system specs could be useful, perhaps. Win7?

It's probably Steam being a bit bitchy, although I don't use the Steam version so someone else might be able to help you with that.

That happened to me when I patched it wrong. Did you follow the correct steps of patching BF2?

Edit: dont update to 1.50 right away, first do 1.41 then 1.50, then install PR: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... guide.html

Hawke, try running BF2 normally and creating an account that way, then try PR... this might fix your problem.

Have you played & logged into a BF2 multiplayer account yet? As far as I know PR requires you to have logged into BF2 at least once before it will start properly.

If you have and it still isn't working, navigate to:

"My Documents" and delete the "Battlefield 2" folder completely. Load up BF2, retrieve/create an account and then log in with that account. For completeness you can join into a BF2 game to make sure, but it isn't necessary. Then you exit out of BF2 and load up PR (as an administrator) and it should have no dramas.

Thanks guys - signed up to BF2 and now it works smoothly. Apart from...

I can't find a game. I'm trying to do a co-op to get eased in, but every time I click on a server with people in there's a little jolt and it says my CD key is not valid. I'm a 64-bit Vista and got BF2 on Steam. WTH x2?!

Hmm... I'm not sure how the steam version works, but for the retail version we have to:
- Install BF2
- Install patch 1.41
- Install patch 1.5
- Install Part 1, 2, 3 of PR 0.95

Did you do those steps (not sure if steam updates BF2 for you?)

Edit: Oh and for the CD-Key thing, navigate to HKLM\Software\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc in regedit then append (or make sure it's there) x9392 to the cdkey hash

go to start>run

type regedit

navigate to HKLM\Software\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc (or whatever the steam directory is if its different) ( the hklm is also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE incase it shows up like that)

then there will be a file called (Default) with an [ab] icon.

click that and then the first four letters should be x9392 in that superlong value box. youll probably have to scroll all the way to the left in the box.

Yep, the first four are x9392. Now what?

Mixed news. I got into a 62/64 player game with a 64 image on the left. Bad news: kicked a minute later for 'the wrong drivers'.

WTH x3?!

Heh, welcome to the world of BF2^^

What exactly did it say about the drivers? When did it say it?

(Note: Some servers with slot reservation max out at 62 (or less) players although they show 64 slots, but that does not appear to be your problem)
