Random hard restarts while playing PR BF2

Post by ixoniadavid »

Im not sure why, but sometimes at complete random in mid-gameplay my computer does a hard restart without any BSOD's or warnings. Temps on GPU's are fine, CPU temp is fine.

Specs:
Core i7 920 @ Stock
GTS 450 SLI @ Stock w/ latest drivers (260.99)
Creative X-Fi Titanimum
Creative Tatic 3D Alpha Headset
OCZ Agility 2 SSD
1.5 TB HDD (this is where BF2 is installed)

Also, on Fallujah it seems to eat up my video ram (slowly itches up to using 1GB+ and holds, not sure if its related, but possible memory leak?)

Is this a side effect of using X-RAM?
(My default is my headset which can use the Creative hardware decoding on Ultra High aswell)

It seems this may be the cause.

Very rare but it happens, your specs run the BF2 engine but only to about 80%, your computer is restarting everytime somthing happens in PR that your graphics card doesnt support, hence the automatic restart, its your computer shutting down and giving you a chance to install the proper hardware to run the program.

You can set your graphics all to low, but it might not fix it.

This is a common and known issue with your XFI and the Ultra High setting.
What you are experiencing are blue screens (BSODs). Please search the forums for XFI.

I am not aware of any fix other than to turn down your audio settings. However you might want to search the forums for "xfi bsod" to find the related threads.

You should also be able to find your BSOD message in the "event viewer" or "reliablitity monitor".
