Do you find yourself wandering off on your own?
because i do, and im not sure why. maybe its because i think i can handle whatever comes my way. maybe its because theres not that many people in the servers.
the weird thing is: its works out well.
on Qwai River, i discovered 2 FOB's. i left the first alone, but destroyed the second and eliminated the option for quick renforcements to the flag the team was attacking. found something like 5 FOB's on gaza and took them all out. caught snipers with their pants down and killed them. i once assualted a FOB being built and killed 3 of the 4 guys. spent time alone in the basment of the bunkers on Iron Eagle, killed 4 guys outright, i wounded the 5th before he killed me, and he bled out before he could reach a medic.
i know PR is about teamwork, and im not opposed to working as a team, but why am i doing this?

It happens every once in a while, but i guess it just happens because the game isn't as realistic as it could be without people complaining about it.Wh33lman wrote:because i do, and im not sure why. maybe its because i think i can handle whatever comes my way. maybe its because theres not that many people in the servers.

It happens because you dont want to deal with whiny people complaining about this or that, or you dont want to hear about some really cool song or some other form of BS'ing, and another reason could be that you want to show your Spec Ops side and its your way of expressing this to the DEV's (:wink

i'm playing without squad sometimes if i don't see good squads for me (which is often) or while waiting for mates, and very often i can clear and defend kashan bunkers alone and i like it

Stealth is very effective in PR and it's well possible, using good positioning and having enough patience, to take out a squad alone.
It isn't as much fun though on the long run, is it? I mean, it's 1337 for the moment, but I'd get bored of it.

Whenever I'm by myself I can take out squads by hiding in a building or bush just inside the enemy side of a cap radius. It doesn't matter that I have no escape plan when the building or bush gets overrun by 12 guys because by that stage I've claimed enough tickets that nobody will tell me off for wasting mine.

Maybe you should SL yourself and take a squad with you. Sounds like maybe you got ideas about where you should be headed but for whatever reason your current SL is either doing something completely different or doenst care enough to get on squad members to all stay together.Wh33lman wrote:because i do, and im not sure why. maybe its because i think i can handle whatever comes my way. maybe its because theres not that many people in the servers.

The lone FOB digger is usually me and you are the person I fear most because logically, you shouldn't be there.

Re: Do you find yourself wandering off on your own?
I haveto admit, on Insurgency recently I have sometimes layed a minefield as Sapper and then go to the cache and take an RPG, laying in wait for armour/blackhawk.
On one round I killed two Tekkie Humvees, two LAV's, and a transport truck. On another I took out a Humvee that had literally driven onto the cache, and also shot a Kiowa down (epic shot). Also, I scored a hit on two Black-Hawk from an unexpected hill (invincible hawk flew round and gunned me each time though lol).
Mind you that's Insurgency. A lot of what people do doesn't make sense - I see myself as playing more for the team than the guys who routinely lone-wolf tekkies.

lonewolfing beats an overly tactical SL any day. I don't have time to stand around hearing you think out loud when i KNOW where the cache is and i can walk straight to it.

I like wandering off on my own after a round of squad-leading. It feels good.

Hmm, Then you should probably bring up that you know where it is and can take your squad to it. Or SL yourself.burghUK wrote:lonewolfing beats an overly tactical SL any day. I don't have time to stand around hearing you think out loud when i KNOW where the cache is and i can walk straight to it.

Lonewolfing may work only on ins vs unorganized team (as ins tend to be unfortunately) or to provide intel on aas.
Play with good sl then.burghUK wrote:lonewolfing beats an overly tactical SL any day.

Re: Do you find yourself wandering off on your own?
In 80% procent of the cases, lonewolfing is actually better.
If you're stealthy enough and having the good kit for the circumstance, you can do much more work than some 'teamworkingFTW-squad'.
Having six guys running over the street is a bit too obvious and a good target while one guy is more stealthy.
I had a lot of these situations where I alone had to take out a half batalion and destroying their HQ *sarcasm* while the other team was building useless FOBs in middle of nowhere. So yeah, I do it a lot, especially when I'm playing as Insurgent, Hamas or Taliban.

How are you gunna cap a place by lonewolfing? Not gunna work. GOOD teams with GOOD SLs win all the time. FOBs out in the middle of nowhere are not useless, they provide multiple avenues for you to approach rather than just one.
Many of these arguments are examples of TEAMS, not GOOD TEAMS. For one:
Multiple people shouldnt be running across a street

Re: Do you find yourself wandering off on your own?
obviously a whole team lonewolfing won't work but take 4 people aside and send them out to harass the other team and ninja their fobs.
Fobs all over the place are useful especially on insurgency where you don't even need fobs. It makes e angry seeing people constantly dieing on them when you just have to leave base when you get intel and return when a cache is down.

im getting angry when i see that some people think FOBs "in the middle of nowhere" would be useful.
they are not. if you spawn somewhere in A1 without any transport youre completely f*cked up. you cant get any support of nearby armor or APCs no pickups cause any trans will need to get around the whole map.
its totally useless to have such FOBs, build them strategic places with good cover and a short distance to the front.

COD maybe ?
Because in PR if 3 people get within 100m of your FOB it won't let you spawn, so therefore FOB's are often placed a longer distance from the objective so they will remain effective.
You seem to be getting angry because the large majority of PR players do not share your idea of tactics or stratergery.
Ninjas are deadly but lonewolves, as a general rule, do not last long on most maps and if you play long enough, you will realize that the game revolves around teamwork and organization.
For example, you contact the APC squad BEFORE you spawn and arrange transport with them ahead of time.
You don't spawn somewhere, spam "NEED APC" and then start crying when you don't get an instant response.
I have no idea where you can get a figure like 80% for how effective lonewolf players are but I seriously doubt the figure is higher than 20%, even on insurgent maps.

Re: Do you find yourself wandering off on your own?
I dont find myself wandering off alone, but I often do make squads of only 3 people (usually with 2 others on Skype), and then ninja caches, relay information of enemy movement, guerilla warfare, hunt FOBs/mortars, and do other stuff to help the team. I find that working with smaller numbers is a plus, especially if those guys actually listen to your orders, instead of lighting up the first person they see. 6 men in a tight cluster is just too obvious, and a juicy target. If you're the lonewolf type of person, try getting a friend on and make a 2man wolf team.
