Several connection problems

Post by duduc1986 »

hello, I'm having a problem that i've always had playing BF2 PR and I wanted to know if there's a solution for that problem..
first: when I try to update servers on deployment, I can see at most 65 servers, I didn't realize it's a problem till I saw at my friend's computer the game loading 120 servers at least.
second: I try to play PR on two computers (on the PC and on the laptop) using a router for my modem, and I'm having connections problems when I do it. one of the connections or both break during the game (i'm starting to play and after 5-10 minutes the game disconnects from the server).
third problem is on mumble, it seems I can't use mumble on my PC and laptop simultaneousl, one of the two disconnects, like it does on the game...

I really don't know what those problems are and if they relate to each other, and I can't tell
if it's my modem, my router, my computer or other configurations...
I have 12 MB of downloading and 1 MB of Uploading, I'm using a cable modem (Thomson 425)
and a router (Edimax BR-6204WLg), win 7 ultimate. anything else I should note?
besides that, my internet works fine...
those are really annoying problems and I'll be glad if someone can tell me what is wrong with my connection!
thanks.

How are the devices connected to the router? Ethernet Cable or WLAN?

It is good that you posted all problems here - since they seem somewhat network related.

Make sure "NAT" is enabled on your router.
What are the lease times / timeouts for DHCP?

For your first problem: this could be a bug, where some artifact non-visible characters are still stored in the filter fields at the table heading. Try clearing the filters by selecting the input field and pressing "del" and "backspace" several times.

First I want to thank you for replying,
my router works on Ethernet Cable.
I truely believe my NAT is enabled buy I will confirm that as soon as I'll know how..

"What are the lease times / timeouts for DHCP?" - how do I check it??

about my updating servers issue (finds only 60...) tried what you told me but it didnt work, and i'm pretty sure it's not in the game, cause I tried to connect to my router from my laptop, and it finds 60 servers, then I connect with wi-fi to my neighbors interent, and suddenly 120 servers, really annoying.
could the problem be my modem? cause I think it's pretty old and lame.
thanks again for helping!

I am not sure how a modem could be responsible, it either transmits and receives data or does nothing at all... it has no traffic shaping capabilities.

Scrolling through the administrative interface for the router should present you the NAT and DHCP settings. Either you can change them (then they will be shown in some sort) or you can't and then they might just be hidden.
Make sure to activate any advanced or expert mode that the router has - so you get the full picture of the available settings.

If you are using any security software (Firewall, AV) you shlould disable it for testing purposes.
