Ok I got a new HDTV for X-MAS and I want to use it as a monitor for my computer. The problem I am having is that its Native Resolution is 1366 x 768 @60Hertz and the nearest setting is 1360 x 768 @ 60 Hertz. Regardless of what resolution setting I have the picture always looks bad.
I have tried to use Nvidia Control Panel but no dice. What I have been trying to do is set a custom res. in the Nvidia Control Panel but it doesn't work. I will go to Change Resolution > Customize > Create Custom Resolution > 1366 x 768 @ 60Hz Progressive; Then it will test the settings then its will say something like "Test Successful... Would you like to save Settings Yes|No" [Now at this point the test that it did the screen looks great thats how I want it] I choose to save (Click yes) then (Still in the customize window) there is a field called custom and in the filed it will have my setting listed. So I will check mark it and click ok. (Nothing happens) Now I look in the Change Resolution (Both windows setting and NCP) and that option is not available to choose.
So if you guys could please help I can not find answers anyware nor can I figure this out my self. Thanks in advance, Mike

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
Which windows are you using?
Make sure to select the correct display when trying to set the resolution.
If you'd get drivers for that TV you should have the resolution right away.
I am using Win7 HomePrem 64 and just checking my resolutions - I got 1360x768 right beneath 1440x900 which only shows when draging the lever to that position.
Also in Advanced settings for this display at the Monitor tab there is a check box "hide modes that this monitor cannot display", untick it to maybe get that resolution to show.

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
I am running Windows 7 Pro. 64bit. I am selecting the correct display and my resolutions are the same as your for the closest (1360x768 below 1440x900) (1360x768 looks really bad but 1366x768 the one I tested looks great).
I have gone threw the advanced settings and unchecked that and checked it nad it still wont shoe (I dont see any changes in the menu when checked or unchecked)

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
I had almost the same problem with my ATI, but it got fixed after I installed the proper drivers =|..
I would suggest to try 4chan's technology board, they usually got problems fixed in a minute.
Edit; 4chan is down atm

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
I thought about drivers and I updated to the latest but no help.
Also I got one of the settings to work and the picture looks good but the text is very fuzzy. I cant even read it I have to use my other monitor to view webpages.

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
Try this driver, using the modded inf - it appears to have 1366x768 in Line 2498
v263.09 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | NVIDIA Desktop - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
(please read their FAQs on how to apply the modded inf)
note: this was a fairly random pick, you can ofcourse try to get a different version form that forum

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
Sadly this did not work either. There was no change in anything. I still cant set the resolution in the windows setting or the Nvidia Control Panel. :'(

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
Maybe a third party tool can help you out.
Try I had good experiences with this tool (back at CRT times): RefreshLock Download RefreshLock 2.21 Free - Enjoy higher display frequencies without the hassle of installing special drivers - Softpedia
There are a bit more advanced tools like PowerStrip that you could try as well.

Re: Can't set Native Resolution on Monitor
Ok I have fixed the problem (another problem has now came up but I can deal with it). What I ended up doing was what you said about the moded inf file. The one from the site did not work but I edited mine to take the 1366x768 res. and that worked!
Thanks a bunch Sniping Coward!
(BTW, the other problem is my color theme (black) changed to the default (blue) and i cant change it back)
Thanks again!
Mike
