Will this upgrade be able to handle Arma 2/PR?
Hey gents I was wondering, well if I could run Arma 2, and if I had the ability to max out PR I currently have windows XP, 32 bit, SP3, Nvidia 8800 GTS OC edition, 2 gigs of DDR2 RAM, and an Intel Core Duo 3200.
That is my set up right now, but I will be upgrading to:
Windows 7 64 Bit
Nvidia 260+ OC
4 Gigs RAM
With that, will I be able to max PR and run Arma 2? thanks in advance.
Oh, and what would be more better/cost effective? Get the 260+, or grab a second 8800, and SLI them together, it is cheaper but won't be as powerful as a single 260 so I midas well grab the 260 but I want your guys' opinions.

moved to a more appropriate section
when buying the 4GB ram make sure you get the correct version DDR2, that is?!

Re: Will this upgrade be able to handle Arma 2/PR?
Your current setup will be able to run it on normal or low I had a 8800gtx and that ran things on normal at about 20 fps. Your next rig will be able to run it at high to ultra high around I would guess 28 - 30 fps.
100% get the 260 (I recommend the 280 for the 2xx but I use a GTX 470 and its worth it if you have the $$)
If you run 2 8800 SLI its the same as running 1 9800 and if you run 2 9800 sli its the same as 1 gtx 265. If you can get a cheep 8800 ($30 or $40) then you could go with that but all I think you will get is better FPS and maybe able to run High settings IMO.

Nope. Its a Quad Core.lromero wrote:Its alright , and yea it looks really good. One thing though is that intel i7 single core? I don't know much about computers.
Those are the expensive ones. If you feel the need to have a Quad, which is good for most new games coming out, get a processor in the range of 2.8-3.4 Ghz.....they will last you for at least 3 years maybe more.

Ya i recommend a i7-920 its the best to OC to a higher speed. But if your on the cheep an i5 quad is a nice alternative.

LOL, wut? Link to said guy in my PM box. lal
Next, that should do it, the processor is good 2.9Ghz,
The card is good, might need a better PSU, I don't suggest going with a case PSU bundle unless you really want to, you can get a better PSU and a case without wasting.
Try to go with 600-750W newer cards like the ATI 68xx series are pushing the 500W limit so if you want a future upgrade with the newest card, go for at least 600W.
RAM is good
Motherboard is compatible with CPU
make sure you have everything else...and some people will recommend a SSD( Solid State Drive)
Basically a better hard drive to store games on.
Personal opinion, don't bother to expensive

Well your GPU has fans on it already, and if you dont have the CPU fan that comes with then you gotta get one.
