Destructible Bridges
I've heard that due to differing texture codings, the paved tops of destructible bridges are nearly impenetrable while their undersides are more susceptible to explosives. Is this true? If so can someone cite where this is mentioned?

Nowhere, because there is no such thing as "texture coding"
Also might want to point out the bridge in question because besides the one on Fools Road which is PR made, others are vBf2 and those haven't been changed.

No. The materials used on the top of the bridge are the same materials used on the bottom of the bridge.Dreadnought1984 wrote:Is this true?

C4 or ArtyIED's placed on the top of it usually works, also placing it on the actual pylons under it to destroy certain sections.
A JDAM dropped within 50 or so meters will completely destroy it as well.

Get a squad to imagine the bridge destroyed and it will be so. Maybe possible for a single soldier, for those strong in the Force.
Could Uri Geller bend them enough to make them unusable?

GUYS GUYS GUYS!
youve all got it wrong.
this is how you do it.
"You slowly approach the bridge, maybe wink at it, then you whisper in her ear, id like to pour my sement on you "
That will most likely make the bridge so hot, it will melt.

You bridge whispering ********.. And there was me with IED's!
Thankyou for showing me the light, sirs.
=)
So I can place IED's on one of the pylons, and eventually it should blow that section out? (Arty IED's notwithstanding).

It'll just break in shame
(Edit: That was regarding Wiccas comment.)
As others have said, take an Arty IED or C4 and put it on the bridge. Anywhere on the bridge basically.

Field cannons do the job quite well on Dragon Fly, if you experiment there are a few ways to destroy a bridge w.o having to run on it.

Re: Destructible Bridges
As far as I know are bridges in PR seen just as an destructable object, without any weak or hardpoints. Some walls and buildings have the same systems, although some of them can be broken by driving into them (long live physics). Its good that bridges cant be destroyed that way, by the way.
The best way to get rid of a bridge would be with a JDAM as mentioned before, but some infantry caried explosives would get the job done too. My personal favorite must, and shall allways be an strafing run from a jet or helicopter.
cheers,

some mortar rounds do the job as well, and you dont even have to get close to that bridge

I happen to have some recording of something similar. Apparently my guy put 3 arty IEDs on it, with no result...

Re: Destructible Bridges
Thirdsin I have recently begun to theorize you must be more precise with your munitions. Placing four artillery IEDs, one at each corner of a section of bridge seems to destroy not only that section, but up to four or five surrounding sections, while placing five in a small pile at the center of a section of bridge is barely sufficient to take out that one section of bridge.
Perhaps by spreading out the munitions, the game registers each impact in a much different manner than simply pilling them together?

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: Destructible Bridges
How many IED's does it take.. Feckign lots is my guess, but you're saying that the best way is to plant the munitions at the four corners of a bridge 'panel' (section)?
