Like the title says; would it be good if this feature would be added? I've searched in the Already Suggested Suggestions (this name has to be changed, it's a pleonasm, it's the same like you would say; "white snow" or "hot fire")

But anyway, I would like to see this feature because;
-It's realistic (?) I mean like, if you would stand on a roof irl, and you get this rope thrown at your roof, you would throw it back down, pull it up or cut it. Ofcourse I know that these ropes are very strong, but if you're standing ingame, and you have a usual rifleman kit for instance, you can't do anything about it.

This is just an example!
You would kill the soldier climbing the rope, but the rope would still remain there, this can lead to a loss of a building. Here's the example why; your 5 squadmates and you are defending a building (read; very important building!), this building has, let's say, 5 entrances.
Now, an enemy squad attacks the building trying to get in, they throw a rope on the roof/balcony/<insert any opening in the wall here>, one guy tries to climb it and you kill him.

Okay.
Everything is fine.
But.

They throw a grenade to one of the entrances, and one of your squadmates die, you have to replace him. you totaly forget about the rope.
And that's it :mrgreen:
This is just an example!

It just would be better imo, because as I said, irl you would do something about that rope :D

really good idea mate and it should be easy to implement, i think that it should be the same as somebody taking the rope up, it will just disappear

Its fairly realistic, and seems possible to do it.

Maybe make the rope have a destroyed animation and the guy that threw it can't pick it up again (is that how your suggestion works OP?)

Interesting because I don't think the rope is a vehicle, nor a handheld 'weapon' - so what class does it fall in?

Seems like a mix of vehicle and pickup-kit. It does not have a bullet hitbox though, so I doubt weapons will be able to harm it unless the devs can add one. And even then it'd need "health" in order to be killable, which I also doubt.

Yeah I was thinking the same. And if not that would probably be the easiest and least complicated way to implente it.

As my knowledge says; only a specialist/civi can do it when he has dropped his rope.
And imo, pressing 'G' would be too easy :) I'd like that the player would have a bit of stress so he would have to wait for the knife to come out.

The hook is a placeholder for the soldier's inability to climb objects. Although in some respects its unrealistic as it puts them into often stupid positions that a soldier most likely wouldn't have access to IRL (such as the Muttrah warehouses when capping the flag), regular soldier's ability to remove it shouldn't be added, since then they should then have the option to deploy one as well, which would be retarded with hundreds of grapples everywhere.

In addition to the above there are a number of other flaws present. A squad shouldn't be left at the top of a building without a way down because a single lone infantryman had the ability to remove their way off. A civilian shouldn't be punished with a suicide if a BLUFOR soldier takes out the grapple from under him while he is climbing it.

it might work if you knife a rope and it disipears but is it worth it? . . . yes you could possibly give a knife a Rope retrival thing . . but then you would loose the usage of the knifing ability . . . .. if its able to be done SURE but . . is it worth the hastle?

Well, as someone stated before, the rope is seen as a vehicle (?), and vehicles have also 'health', so give the rope very low HP, let's say 0.001HP, and give the knife the ability to reduce the HP of a vehicle by 0.001HP.
It's practically the same as the shotgun that can kill, arrest and breach doors and gates.

I'm not sure about the HP thing in BF2 engine, I think it's done this way. :lol:

I like the idea and support it by all means. I think they could find a way to implement this with enough community support.

There wouldn't have to be any animation, they could just be like old rally points where you knife them and they are gone.
