I'm afraid this would all but nullify the use of hooks, and many people will suffer weird, yet sadistically hilarious deaths.

"I hear a hook, to the roof!"

*Sees hook*

Wouldn't he have a coolface instead?

Enemy stabbing hook would be coolface...

Teammate stabbing hook would be trollface... > >

Trollface because he'd be 'abusing' the system and winning a fight without fighting.
If that even matters :p

If a enemy is climbing up a rope, it is very fair to cut the rope as he almost gets to the top so he falls to death.

I support this idea as far as you can knife the rope only from upper end and it takes several (2 or 3) strikes with knife to kill it.

-lucky

PS: The best ever would be if the rope would cut into two parts in the part you knifed :)

Don't see the point of taking two or three strikes, any combat knife worth it's salt (Well I guess it'd suck to an American with GI gear) with serrations would do it in a single pull.

I say it should be destroyed by shovels.

Shovel that rope down would simulate cutting the rope with the sharp edge of entrenchment tools.

Well the ropes are not fishing ropes either, they're also made out of strong materials :-D

Just like webbing and you'll cut through it in a second with a knife with decent serrations. That's what serrations are largely designed for, to tear through fibrous material.

it would take a few slashes to cut it because the rope is so skinny and because of networkables and stuff. how would the hitboxes work for that?

How would you be able to make it so that every kit can 'destroy' ropes? This would be tricky to code..

I didn't say that I would code it, it's a suggestion, and I don't think it's that hard to make, durr.

i would say its impossible.
what if you stand under the rope and then knife it? irl you could only reach about half a metre of the rope so how could you destroy it this way?

yep. only possible way to implement it without trashing the whole grapple-system would be if it only works on the hook itself, but not on the rope. so u can be sure that is can be only destroyed from above.

but even then it would be pretty stupid since you are not always climbing a house. more often u just use it to get over a wall, where it doesn't make any sense to destroy the rope because the hook would attach to the top end of the wall.
and since any real solider would be able to take such an obstacle in any other way i doubt that giving anyone the ability to remove ropes is a good idea.

Sorry your highness, but before posting you atleast must have read something in the forum, or not  , atleast, that's what normal people do though. But I understand your mentality and psychological presure, sorry that you think that I'm a c*cksucker.

And I don't care what you think about me, you really think I should worry about some German whoms attention is fully negative against me?
