[FSG] Fire Support Group - Europe

Post by Burton »

Fire Support Group are a group of like minded gamers who share a passion for Military Realism titles and the use of realistic tactics.

Formed in Spring 2009 under the title of European Strike Force - In July 2010 the original and core members decided that a new direction and focus was needed. So with a reshuffled team, a fresh start was made - relaunched as Fire Support Group.

Currently our focus is PR:BF2, but we also plan to embrace the highly anticipated Squad upon its release.

FSG is based around the belief that gaming should be fun and that there should be no pressure to perform. We decided that we wanted a casual atmosphere, but to still play professionally and to the best of our abilities.

No one screams at you if you get killed, or if you accidentally select the wrong kit. We would rather laugh it off than make someone feel uncomfortable playing what many people forget is just a game.

We don't copy real world standards of military ranks or practice for the sake of trying to create a virtual army experience and we do not consider ourselves to be a 'Hardcore Realism' clan. We do not expect our members to talk as though they are hardened war-veterans, address members as sir or talk down to new recruits as though they do not have a valid opinion. This kind of behaviour is far too excessive in a gaming clan, members join FSG for a common love of realistic gaming and to have fun and share the experience with like minded people.

When we play, our primary focus is as Infantry and Infantry support roles, including Mechanised support. We pride ourselves with knowing that although we might not always be leading the charge and we might not be Top Squad every single round - We were however one of the main reasons that the team was successful. Like a Shepherd with his flock, we stand back spot the weaknesses within a team and fill in the gaps to ensure that the team has the support it needs in order to complete the task in hand. Defeating the enemy.

We are highly capable at what we do, but we don't make any wild statements saying we are the best. We simply let our abilities speak for themselves. Modesty is key to our approach to gaming.

FSG strive to present a mature, professional and polished image to the wider community. Understated, yet powerful.

Our members come from throughout Europe, but primarily from Britain and Scandinavian countries such as Norway, Finland and Sweden.

The most important factor to know when considering joining FSG is that we aren't looking for someone to just fill a space in a squad. Fire Support Group more than just being a clan is a close-knit group of friends. Everyone in FSG is a member because they don't just want to be in a clan - they want the close camaraderie that few places offer. They aren't seen as a source of income, nor do they have to pay for access, they aren't member 459, they are themselves, and that is why they join FSG.

Why should you join FSG?

- You share our common passion for gaming

- You want to play using tactics and teamwork

- You want to have fun when gaming

- You don't want a faux military experience using ranks and medals

- You don't want to be subject to activity requirements

- You don't want to have to pay a joining fee

If you think these tick the right boxes for you, then you should apply.

Our joining criteria are minimal, we do have an 18+ age limit, but we have younger members who joined on merit based on their abilities and personalities. So don't let this put you off.

Hello guys, I am wanting to get into PR after briefly playing it about a year ago. I am from the UK and currently at Uni. From what you have said your attitude to game as best you can, without pressure or turning it into a job, while still having the tactics and titles of a realism clan sound fantastic!

I would love to join you guys if you would have me so I can get used to the PR features again :)
My favorite role is the Sniper and just wondered if you guys have rules about new members not being able to use that role in games etc.

Thanks a load

Hello Huffleblah,

I sent you a PM with some information.
Regarding the sniper thing, our focus is on infantry and their support roles for the most part, and as the text above says, we like to perform whatever role our team requires.
That said, playing as a sniper certainly isn't out of the question at all, but we will require you to play within a larger squad as well, more so than not.

We don't use ranks or such in game or out of game per se, instead we have Tiers from 1 to 4, 3-4 being admin Tiers.
I hope that answers your questions.

Regards,

Fire Support Group [EU] Insurgency
Realism & Teamwork

Inline with our long term goal of being a Project Reality ArmA2 server host upon its release - We have decided to put our foot on the first rung of the ladder and purchase an ArmA II OA server, promoting teamwork and proper use of tactics.

Hosted in the UK by Alpha-Networks.co.uk, this server will primarily be running Pogoman's Insurgency (and a few others) until Project Reality's much awaited release.
The server currently has space for 24 players, which includes two infantry sections, a CAS section, and a fire support section.

Public ArmA2 players are always welcome to join us on Teamspeak3:

FSG TeamSpeak IP & Port:
217.146.93.18:10027

Rules: http://www.fsg-gaming.com/forums/index.php?topic=1370.0
Please make sure to read our rules before playing on the server. A basic outline of the rules is also provided in-game.

For more details about the server and other information, please visit our website:
FSG Clan

As a side note, we are still actively recruiting and playing both PR:BF2 and ArmA2, and accept players with both or either title. For more info about joining, visit our website.

I am looking for a good clan to join that plays often together, and uses teamwork. I was also looking for one that will be playing PRA2. I have played in Oscars squad for a couple of rounds before and had a great time.

But I am not able to register on your website since I am 15 years old.

I already noticed the tags these week again after a long time, and not just one guy, instead a full squad of FSG guys. Good to see you guys back!

That's great Pronck, I'm glad we made enough impact that after a 4 year hiatus our tags are still recognised in-game!

As with all members, 4 years on, we all have new commitments. But I have been in contact with him, and he has informed me that he will most likely be back at the end of the year.
Not on a fulltime basis, but back nonetheless.

FSG is no longer recruiting and is shutting down.

Unfortunately our recent return to PR has shown us that PR is not for us anymore.
We have a massive respect for the Dev team as we have played this since the beginning, but unfortunately, must move on.

Thanks to everyone that brushed shoulders with FSG. We wish the PR community the best in the future.
