Stand still animations and You

While the normal BF2 model player is standing still for somthing like 1 minute or so he begins to make little gestures and movments. suchas slapping a fly off its face or doing curl ups with the weapon flipping the knife and other small things. It might not be possible to Control these animations through keybind or HUD menu but is it possible to create some of these small animations to indicate certian things suchas AFK time??

If a player stands still for 2 minutes lets say he lowers his weapon to his side and looks down at his feet and at 5 minutes he does somthing else?? how Customisable are those animations to Edit from a Developers standpoint? . . . or if it IS easy what if for evey minute past 2 minutes the player holds up a finger to indicate and tell players who look at him that . . . Ive been AFK for X amount of time?? . . . Its not a real usefull idea because you can tell if somone doesnt move for a period of time. but its somthing to think about . .

and if it is Possible to create a HUD activated animation menu that could be a good laugh :)

Each animation being played is specific to the particular weapon that is being held. So if you wanted an idle animation to play every 2 minutes then it would need to be on all weapons for it to universal.

lol, wonder what you could make him do if you had been away for 13min.... ;)

This would be interesting, and great eye candy, but very low priority seeming it's alot of work for this to be ingame.

Although, keeping it to a certain few main/heavy weapons so they get the lowered look, like the soldier is having a rest.
or maybe easter egging it? :-P

BF2142 has animations when a SL issues an order he starts moving his arms toward that direction its pretty interesting to see, but it might not be possible in BF2
those IMO would be better

Is it possible to make the animations display on the third person model too? Afaik the animations you mentioned can only be seen from the first person view.

Not true, I have seen people flipping knives and such things in third person

Haha, yes, would be nice to see some of that stuff. :D Or only chacking for bulletcount, firing mode, adjusting optics

Nice idea, but as Chuc said, would require the animations to be applied to each weapon, and IIRC, their was a dev blog that showed every kit, and there were a lot. And BF:Heroes has a animation q-rose thing, so in theory it would be implementable.

The problem with that is these animation can give your position away when you are not afk.
For example you are in the enemy base there are enemies around you but they don't see you as you are hiding in a bush and you are not moving and then all of a sudden you do one of these animations and the enemies see you and then you die.

Personally when I'm AFK i just get the unarmed kit and stand there saluting till i get back. It's a more honorable way to kill time.

i thought about that some years ago, it would be very nice to have such animations added for each squad radio message. or even own buttons.

IIRC the server will track the x,y and z positions of the player and work out if they are afk that way (some servers run a afk timer).
