As soon as you select a room to play, DON'T SAY ANYTHING! The 3D positional audio will work only after you first spawn in game.

Avoid talking while you are out of the game, because everybody will hear you and that really, REALLY bothers all the players who are in game.
I think that is a message that a lot of people could learn from, instead of just joining a room and blindly saying "MUMBLE CHECK!!1!" it would be a lot better to join mumble, join the game, and then ask if they are linked, or even better...make sure its working before you join a server!

Updated tutorial for mumble on the forums. Sticky please?

Nice work there, seems a lot of people can't be bothered with mumble because of the hassle with setting it up, this should help a lot.

XxZIOIMIBIExX wrote:one thing i must say, is teamspeak 3 does have 3d positional sound that is better than mumble that is configurable. and can be made as a plugin for games just like mumble. and the voice coding is simply astounding, i am ABSOLUTLY NOT putting mumble down just pointing otu a simple mistake you made about teamspeak 3.
:)
(only because i LOVE TS3 and use the **** out of it) LOL
So, you will NEVER use mumble to play with more teamwork ?

I don't really see the need for people that aren't squad-leaders to use mumble. To talk to your squad, VOIP is perfectly fine and doesn't get heard by nearby enemies (Mumble does). If people are squad-leaders, then yes, mumble is good to coordinate with eachother on the SL channel, but for the remaining people on the squads it's unnecessary.

The guy was new and was lost in game, with mumble he walked with us and we taught him about PR.

Without mumble he would be only one more blue-tag player walking without a north.

Mumble increases overall teamwork vastly, not only between squad leaders but individual squad members also which is crucial to me. There might be now and there most certainly will be in the future better software to achieve this but Mumble is what is currently used and it works perfectly well and it too can be improved.

I would never go back to not using Mumble unless something better comes up.

Good tutorial for new Mumble users, sticky please!

There had been problems with the Mumble Overlay, but GGC-Stream.com sorted that Violation out with Evenbalance (PB) and you won't have any troubles with using the Overlay.

My Question is: Can i set a default Username for me, since i do not want to type in my Nickname everytime i join the PR Mumble. So is there a Config where i can set my default nick?

Common mistake. Its not unnecessary at all, from simple things to spotting targets more effectively with blue guys too effectively integrating yourself with random squads if you become separated from your own, spotting accurately for armor, talking too squad mates in a fight to keep coms clear ... granted for SLs its more important, but its not useless for squad guys.

My user name is always there, on custom servers when you type in your user name click 'add' so the Project reality official server is saved with your name.

Just last night as medic I was running around asking blues for ammo as I had run out of pens. We also spotted a target for a non squad HAT guy which meant he hit the enemy APC and we could move on

If you're seperated from your squad invaluable for giving directions to any form of trans.

When you're in an armour squad you can freely chat with your driver or gunner and not spam the entire squad with stuff that is useless for them - invaluable for tank and CAS squads.

The most useful function is as medic finding wounded SM's and of course fellow blues.

Plus in the quiet moments you can enjoy a little light chat.

Most mumble servers use a two channel system so you don't have to worry about enemies listening in.

1.Mumble is 2D so people above or below you sound like they're next to you, yes even aircraft!
2. My ingame volume is set to about 20% so when in a vehicle I can hear the pilot/driver/gunner.
3. Disconnects are caused by being near the map edge and high flying - relink by lieing down, alt tab or restart mumble whilst in game.

Thank you, I see I have a lot of corrections to make. I'm sorry for that.

Good to know that, I'll put this information the main topic.

Once you type your nickname in the place you log in the server, it will be there always. At least it works this way with me.
