Hello, all.
I've been having this issue since I've re-installed BF2/PR after a hiatus from the game. I've been able to play for anywhere from 5 to 30 min until I get kicked from the server with "Your Connection to the Server has Been Lost." Upon trying to connect to a new server I get disconnected with this error immediately. My internet connection is sound and ports have been forwarded/triggered.
I've done a bit of searching and found pnkbstrb.exe (PBB) to be a likely problem. I've checked after receiving the error and found that PBB was not running. I went to enable it in the services menu of Win 7 and it was not there. I reinstalled and set the service to autorestart and interact with desktop, but this keeps happening. Any help would be appreciated.
Sys: Win 7 32-bit, AMD 5400+, 6 GB RAM

I've found this works for me:
Start PR then alt out.
Open services click on pnkbstrb.exe
Set all 3 to auto-start
THEN choose restart pnkbstrb.exe
Leave services open
Go back to game.
If you have a disconnect Alt out and check services window for pnkbstrb.exe.
Good luck
