Compass marker doesn't show / Unable to use mortars/Fixed!

So, my game runs fine, except for a tr.exe error I get when starting the game. It used to be fine; I'm not sure what caused it. The compass marker now doesn't show up and, therefore, I get a bit disorientated and unable to use mortars.

My system:

- Intel E8400 @ 3.0 Ghz (stock)
- 4 Gb RAM DDR2
- ATI HD 5770 / Latest drivers
- 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate

Any help would be much appreciated. Did anyone else have this issue? I've tried a number of settings, reinstalling PR, and the problem persists.

Have your tried trashing your BF2 cache files?
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

This happening to me as well . Trashing the cache files didnt help me either . Anything else that we can try ?

If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files.

Compass chevron still gone?

Using AA? Try setting it higher or turning it off.
OK if your still having trouble and running in "Window" mode didn't yield an error code some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001

Re: TR,exe has stopped working: Do any of you guys use Avast anti-virus? I fixed this problem (and a few others) by uninstalling the last Avast update which seems to conflict with the tr.exe and UDK.exe.

Check firewall/anti virus doesn't block tr.exe

It's fixed.

I've done two procedures at the same time: I downloaded the latest update for avast! anti-virus and set the ingame antialiasing to 8x. I'm not sure which one of these fixed it (the anti-virus update seems more likely, since I've changed AA settings before with no results), but it's a problem solved. Thank you for your help!
