If you're seperated from your squad invaluable for giving directions to any form of trans.
Nothing you can't do by typing in in-game chat.

The success-rate is much much lower. Typing in in-game chat only works when the receiver actually pays attention to the chat, for example a pilot who awaits coordinates. And even IF you got lucky and the receiver receives the message, do you really want to disrupt all 32 people on your side with your annoying little message?

Mumble just adds to the team-play. That's a fact, 100% objective.

I think Joe puts it best:
joethepro36 wrote:I have to co-ordinate myself with the team, a commander if there is one, mumble if that's working and the squad itself. Several rounds stick in my mind where I didn't stop talking for 20 minutes~ straight, constantly relaying information back and forth. Now even if I get the communication done properly I have to make the main tactical and strategic decisions for the squad constantly. To put it simply, doing squadleading properly can be extremely draining for you. Even if I'm just with my squad and the team I often get pretty bogged down in simply trying to exchange information. THIS IS WHY MUMBLE IS A GOOD THING. Typing stuff up only to have no answer for whatever reason seriously saps my time that should be spent leading the squad.
Which applies for everyone really, SL or not. Mumble is so much more streamlined. It saves valuable seconds instead of having to type, seconds which can and do matter, and as Joe pointed out there's no guarantee that the time you put into typing out your request will even pay off. But with mumble, the return rate for your investment so to speak, is much higher. And that is just one of the many good things about mumble.

Guys, this is not a PRO vs. CON topic about mumble.

I just compiled all information about this software in one topic.

If you want to arge about mumble if useful or not, please, use or create a new topic.

I've merged the first post of this thread into the existing mumble tutorial thread, which is stickied above.

As we hardly need a pro v con topic on mumble i'm going to lock this thread.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "
