3rd person view.

Post by saamohod »

Hi. I recently saw a video on u-tube which featured one PR squad game. What astonished me was the 3rd person view. Events were shown from 1st person perspective (as is normal in game) as well as 3rd person view from an outside point from the protagonist. So I was able not only see his kills thru his scope but also from an easy to observe place near the enemy (split screen so to say). How is it done? I never found any instruments in the game that would allow me not only to watch my recorded game but also use random camera points.
Thanx for help.

It is some kind of an effect that can be achieved with battle recorder...not exactly sure how you do it.

In Battlerecorder you can choose to follow any player that was in the battle, or you can free roam the map choosing any place to take videos or pictures.

Battle Recorder is found in the 'Barracks' section of the PR main menu and to view a battle, you first have to download the battle that you wish to watch. These are called demo's. Some servers run this feature, and some don't so you'll just have to find out which ones do and which ones don't.

It is called Battle Recorder, There is an advanced 3rd party client that serves the same purpose called Battle Director.
Here is a little video guide I found via Google about Battle Recorder:

It seems though that a very limited amount of servers provide BattleRecorder files.

yes, it requires a lot of space and i think it costs the server money to store the files?

I wanna see that video, gimme link! :-D

Well it costs space but come on, these days HD space is the least concern of server dudes. The bigger concern is traffic and if 100 people download a 100MB battle recorde file - thats a chunk to carry...

I wish TG still had Battle Recorder running. It would be nice to be able to go back and relive all the awesome things that I've done.

Yea, the admins are working on getting it working again. When we transitioned to the new server there were some difficulties in getting BFR working.

It's not intentional, and hopefully the admins will get it working again at some point.

Really? :o I have a few Battlerecorder stuff, but I very rarely use it, if at all.
