It installed, but BF2 and PR will not work
Hi techy's, I just got bf2 yesterday for my Asus G73 JH. yea the computer has the specs to run the game and PR blah blah blah. Well, for some reason, every time i tried loading up PR it said missing BF2AudiomoduleDLL. or something of that sort. now yea my pc specs are to good enough to run this. i have a core I7-740 QM processor, ati mobility radeon hd 5870 with 1 ggb of gddr5 ram, 6 gigs of ddr3 ram, and a 640gb hardrive. now i reinstalled both bf2 and PR today. Now ill get the error. but when i load one of them up the screen goes dark, flashes, and goes back to my dashboard.
I really would like to thak you guys in advance for the help! Thank you!

Re: It installed, but BF2 and PR will not work
I think I know this....check your monitor refresh rate if its 59Hz thats your problem, I had this on a MSI portable and while searching for a repair on the net I saw some Asus have this problem to. It would run fine when I plugged in another monitor on the VGA/D sub.
If you are on 60Hz check the video settings resolutions match exactly the monitor settings. Go to My Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles/default/Video to change if the game won't launch.
I found a repair online which IIRC was deep in the computer perhaps BIOS I printed the repair and gave it to the local (very good) computer shop where I bought the computer and they permanantly fixed it.
Are you Vista or 7?
As for the audiomodule not a clue sounds like a reinstall In the BF2 folder I have this BFAudio.dll 300kb do you?

Hey thanks, and i am running 7.
Now i dont believe its my refresh rate, because when i first installed bf2 it ran perfectly, the only problem was after i downloaded and installed PR. i also forget how to access refresh rate settings lol, but thanks for the help.

Try running as admin, unlikely but worth a try.
Check the resolution and refresh rate in your video card control panel is the same as in My documents/BF2/profiles/default and 0001.

Re: It installed, but BF2 and PR will not work
I'm having that same message with the audio dll thing. After I installed PR when I try to go to audio settings the game freezes up, I can't play single player as when it fully loads it freezes and if I try to join a server it freezes right when I click on it. This happens when I try to play BF2 as well.

Re: It installed, but BF2 and PR will not work
Can you look in ur BF2 install folder for a file named bf2Patch.log, and then copypasta the text after ----- Patch File Processing Complete -----
It's at the bottom of file.
Cheers.

I don't think it's patched properly. How did you do it? (i.e. patch order/rebooting, etc)Whoman64 wrote:er i dont see a patch anywhere. And to clear some things up this is a new gaming laptop, and i got bf2 roughly 2 weeks ago
Did you install the Vanilla 1.5 update?

First off, did you fully patch correctly?Whoman64 wrote:er i dont see a patch anywhere. And to clear some things up this is a new gaming laptop, and i got bf2 roughly 2 weeks ago
- Install BF2
- Patch BF2 to 1.41
- Patch BF2 to 1.5 (important)
- Install PR part 1
- Install PR part 2
- Install PR part 3
- Load BF2 and log in (to initialize profile settings)
- Exit BF2 & start PR
Next, go to your BF2 shortcut properties and on the target, append +fullscreen 0 so that any error crashes will show up. It should look something like the following:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +restart 1
Try loading BF2 after this fullscreen 0 has been put on, and check the error if any pops up. Report back with exact error if one presents, preferably a screenshot.

See :
You already have a newer version installed? - Battlefield 2 General Discussion (General Game Discussion) - Battlefield 2: EA Forums
Do this :
Go into the registry, search for "battlefield". One of the keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software should have values named InstallDir, Language, and Locale. If the one named Version isn't there, right click->New->String value and name the new value Version. Right click it, choose Modify, type 1.4 in there and ok. Now it should work.
Uninstall everything then when you go to patch follow what it says above.
Should be fixed then

Re: It installed, but BF2 and PR will not work
"registry" is refering to the "windows registry": http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... e-registry (found in 2 seconds by googling 'what is the "registry"' - google is your friend)
The program will remember it's version number by writing it down in the registry. If it however did not correctly update it might have already changed the version number but the files are not up-to-date. Deleting the entries like describe above will have to program assume it is out-of-date.
But you probably just didn't install bf2 patch 1.41 before 1.5. (Patch 1.5 is only incremental)

Got a PROBLEM? Check this: PR:BF2 Installation Guide
Got a common QUESTION? check here first: PR:BF2 FAQ, MUMBLE FAQ
"Hello, IT! ... Yes, have you tried turning it on and off again?"
