SO WHAT? He wants it gone, why does he have ultimate say. Yeah sure, it's his map, but still...
Chill out mate, no reason to be ******. Next time try a civil "why is wanda shan being removed?" in your post, or even better PM Outlawz himself. I'm sure he'd be fine with giving an answer

Wanda Shan was just a vehicle warfare map masquerading as an AAS map
Ive never hated a PR map so much in my life... except maybe quin-ling...

Always has to be a hater.^^^

Every round i played on Wanda Shan was awesome. It's one of the best looking maps i've seen. Every map has a core group of people that hate it, that's just how it goes. Ignore the haters, it's a sweet map, don't be so easily discouraged.

As Kain I played it on PRTA that demands teamwork and follow orders so APC's were running people about.

Trans Heli's would have made it easier for the masses. That was a long long way to drive a Logy.

A pretty map that in my opinion with very minor changes would have been excellent.

This stuff where guys don't want a hill as a point - that happens all the time in wars - and who cares?

As has been said before these talented guys do alot for us - anyone notice how Rudd seemed to have a phase of thinking of stopping gaming recently, is that due to all the crits of his hard work too?

One can understand how some DEV's, CON's, testers etc may develop a certain hostility towards some of us ungrateful SOB's, we are a small close knit community because of the addictivness of PR - be nice - be constructive at least or shut up.

Fighter - I think one can see why he's reached this level. It also lets all the hard workers show how hurtful it can be.

They don't even tell us why Wanda Shan was deleted anyway =\ From the comments I've read it sounds like a few people complained so they removed it. Honestly, how many people have complained about deviation ahhaa :D

I have had some of the worst rounds of PR on Wanda Shan. For what it is trying to portray, everything can be achieved in a 2KM format. Whilst PR strives to have 'near infinite re-playability' with 4km maps, Wanda Shan's repetitive terrain caused infinite frustrations to all vehicles, taking terrain damage that was so severe that you'd be smoking by the time you go across half the map. In no way was this realistic, and often meant a lengthy RTB.

I for one am glad that it is being removed. It was not up to PR standard in the slightest. The forested areas promoted lone wolfing and roaming armor which shouldn't be in the interest of any PR server.

When comparing it to other 4km maps, Yamalia and Qinling do a much better job even though they are also heavy/light forests respectively. Yamalia is unique in that it has light APC transports which when combined with the infantry, completely obliterate the other team which isn't properly prepared. I've gone mechanized on many a different occasion on Wanda Shan (in addition to infantry, example 1, example 2) and been subsequently raped by tanks or the landscape itself. We had to ditch our APC and move to the PLA main on foot as was tracked due to the land, and even then the cap was so annoyingly small that we couldn't push it back, because the Chinese would just run from their main.

Regardless of its plethora of problems, the map can still be saved. Simply reducing it to 2km and expanding the urban villages for a start.

I believe Rudd was of adventuring for a month or two Ploddit :p

I think with AAS v4 and a few other fixes Wanda would be a good map.

Thing is, everything that you've described there can be fixed by a combination of AASv4 and a few GPO alterations. Removing the APCs as the primary mode of infantry transport and replacing them with plenty of trans helicopters would be a start, as well as removing the CAS choppers.

In terms of the quality of mapping it is up to PR standards, otherwise it wouldn't be in the game. All it needs is some TLC and alterations made to rectify gameplay issues that it would have been difficult to foresee.

I play PR very little. Especially compared to my activity on the forums. I've only played on Wanda Shan once but that game was incredibly fun. Advancing in an APC and jump out when you are a couple of hundred metres from the objective, a village. APC goes in a circle to the left while infantry goes to the right. The village now provides ZERO cover with heavy APC fire from once side and small arms from the other. Fun and efficient.

I like the map since I saw the highlight of it and it will be missed.

This has come up over and over, Outlawz pointed out that you're meant to keep vehicles on the roads. There is a reason the terrain is hard to drive over, simply doing whatever you want in complete disregard of reality doesn't mean there is something wrong with the map :|

the only problems i had was that it was
1. china vs russia (i dont find this realistic at all TBH)
2. server lag

rather iron ridge was ins was removed than wanda shan it was a good map that would have been even better with a bit of tweaking

I love this map simply because of its atmosphere. It just feels great. I thoroughly enjoyed infantry combat in those woods. I agree that a change of GPOs and asset layout would make it much better, though.
Never ever experienced any server lag, but that might just have been my awesome luck.

wanda shan :( but unless he fixes the map the title will always be there right?

my problems with the map.
1. network lag was something fierce.
2. apc was only form of transport. if apc support is destroyed..... your walking.
3. the deal breaker....there weren't any landmarks really... just a big forest. compared to a highly detailed map like Kozelsk which uses apcs. resulting in a empty server especially at 4 am. this goes back to #2. we need moar vehicles to make up for the plain map (kashan).

these are just my opinions though.
