Regarding smoke grenades/flares (not sure if you are already aware of this info) but from what I've seen BF2 makes use of various colors of smoke, which are, I believe, deployed by the commander to designate that a squad should move here/there or to indicate (in a different color) where a supply drop ill be or where arty is need/will strike. Something to that effect; but rest assurd we will make use of smoke grenades in a fashion that is useful to the player utilizing it.

very good idea. a guy (support) carrying generic ammo around that will work for everyone isn't realistic at all, being reamred at your main base is. I love that idea.

It makes being pulled out of an area a tactically good thing to do if the conditions are right. This requires two things

Uber level design. We need great maps for a good enough fire fight to start with cover every where.

Major penalty for death. I'm thinking a minute respawn time. A really bad score wouldnt discourage me lol, and i don't think it would be fair, tis a realism mod, your gonna die a lot compared to vanilla if you play it the same.

its not totally unrealistic soldiers have been carrying maps into battle for centuries, if you want to limit the minimap to only showing your position thats fine but taking it out all together is unrealistic, also in todays world of palm pilot like gadgets there are thingst in the real army that function like a minimap does in BF there computers designed to track all the soldiers and armor on the battlefield, granted your average GI wont have it so thats why it should be limited to just showing your position, any soldier should have a basic map and compass

Some sort of major reward for the Helicopter pilot. Not everyone will just want to pilot a helo all over the map acting as a medivac or whatever. (I would) If they get alot of points some way, more people will want to do it.
Well I know one thing, there will be atleast one helicopter ready to get guys and supplies in and out of a hot zone :D

On the other hand, excellent ideas solo, i also agree with Fig about the ammo situation, what would be neat, if any of you have ever played Conflict: Desert Storm, when playing Co-op and single player, guys could swap ammo with their teammates as long as they had the same caliber weapon, and let me tell you, there's no better feeling then being pinned down and your low on ammo, and seeing your buddy throw a smoke then run up to you and give you some of his ammo.

Also, concerning Field Hospitals, if this was added, could it also be imployed into vehicles, such as having some humvees and blackhawks designated as Mobile Medical Stations, these could definitly come in handy when going into a hot zone.

I agree with having no minimap that shows everyone on the field. If the game is set in 2008, it's possible that by then the US military could have deployed a basic form of what we can see in BF:V ( indicators for friendly troops, etc), but I think it would most likely be only for Squad Leaders.
For the average grunts in the field, my vote goes towards just having a mini-map with their position on it, with maybe an easily read map/grid reference, so that it's possible to co-ordinate with other guys.

With the hospitals/repair bases, I think it would depend on the map. If the map had a main base, then having a field hospital with maybe one HMMWV/Landrover as an aid station could be the way things go. If there is no main base, then having 2 or 3 HMMWV/Landrovers aid stations, with another 1 or 2 as repair stations.

solodude23 wrote:I didn't say anything about repairs, and I kinda don't know about that. In real life theres no such thing as "repair pads" or whatever like there is in BF42. No matter the situation, people have to be the ones fixing the vehicle. I say leave that to the Engineers.
Very true, but they also have vehicles which carry spare parts around. I'm thinking if maybe a Humvee could be designated a "Spare Parts" truck, and have that floating around as a mobile 'speedier repair' station. It would all depend on the players using it, but having that could be a very useful addition to the game, if repair pads aren't in-game.
solodude23 wrote:I said Field Hospital because its alot more realistic than a vehicle actually healing you. In real life they can't do anyomre in a Humvee to fix you than out of it. I said Field Hospital because thess actually where you really stay for recovery. Also, on maps where it may be Attack and defend, or "objective mode" its more likley you wouldn't have a main base if you are the assaulting side.
As I said, it depends on the map. If it's an assault style map, then don't have a field hospital, but instead 2 or 3 humvee's that heal people slowly. If it's an attack type map, where the main base is under siege, then a hospital would be a better idea. Either way, my vote is to give the players something so they can heal up in-game, other than the medic. If not, then it'll turn into a one shot one kill, large unwieldly game of counter-strike.
