From an infantryman to chopper pilots;

Post by dtacs »

This may be a rant per se, but this is something I need to get off my chest and has been bugging me for a long time now.

I just played the worst round in my 3 years of PR where the same chopper pilot (UNSTF*saXoni.PR) crashed to desktop in two separate Hueys with my squad in them both times. In total (in addition to one other crashing into a mountainside with another pilot) we ended the round with about 5 kills and something like 40 deaths.

Take it from an infantryman, never ever ever go near any sort of air asset if you have any sort of graphics issues, chances to crash to desktop, have a choppy internet connection, or if you have any doubt in your ability drop the infantry where they want to go.6 people shouldn't have to suffer on three separate occasions due to your incompetence and inability to stay away from such a valuable asset.

i liked your announcement rudd.

"it was announced today that a pilot and 7 soldiers lost their lifes in an air crash after the pilot had a cardiac arrest"

for a second i thought you were serious.

Once is kinda funny...any more and you don't need to be flying at all! Happened to me today. Same pilot crashed the BH 4 times in one round on Kokan!

1/2 the time I CTD, it is the result of me flying a trans helicopter, and I rarely fly trans. Nevertheless, I see your point, I really dislike it when people crash a helicopter due to lag/graphical issues and they hop in another Huey after that.

Every and I mean EVERY infantry needs to know the .95 is crashable and ANYONE can crash, and if it happens when your piloting a full helicopter, then oh well. Not the pilots fault, not his fault for having a kick *** rig. Don't blame the pilot for EVERYTHING!

Maverick, I don't think dtacs is blaming pilots for everything only that pilots who repeatedly CTD should perhaps avoid being...pilots :P

We didn't have too much choice as the other 2 pilots were busy.

One wouldn't expect him to CTD again.

When the pilot knowingly takes an asset whilst he has serious stability issues, that is his fault.

Is it really needed to create another rant topic tho? :/ Snipers, APCs, pilots, what's next? Not really constructive. :(

Honestly I felt it was legitimate, otherwise I wouldn't have made it in the first place.

Hopefully the people who constantly crash choppers due to either terrible PC's or general incompetence can realize those who keep them in business aren't too happy.

Legitimate complaint in my book. Threadstarter is not coming down on all pilots that CTD but saying that those who CTD often in choppers should stay away from flying. Ergo, show respect for the other players.

My note: we the other players are not bots. Do not like to be wasted.

Yeah you have nothing to apologize for Dtacs, it's a legitimate concern.

In addition to what was mentioned by the OP, I'd have to say that incompetent pilots landing on rooftops/uneven surfaces is another thing that pisses me off.

I have
-been crushed under a skid as the helicopter failed its first takeoff from the rooftop
-been crushed by a helicopter falling to its side
-watched as the helo skid hit a railing and everyone died

My friend was flung into the lake in Silent Eagle by a chopper which started turning over as we exited it, it was hilarious but he didn't agree :-P

I appreciate chopper pilots, just not the ones who make it more worthwhile to walk all the way to the objective.

agree with that you should avoid flying with and unstable station. i have done this, and crashed. luckily it was empty.

but surely you didn't need to put the pilot's name out?

Well now you know, hes pilot who has CTD issues and isn't trustworthy using a chopper. That isn't to say his handling and etiquette was bad though.

My inability to determine your type of sarcasm is annoying :)

Landing on rooftops isn't bad, IE on Dragonfly it is the best way to get around. Jump out and get inside the buildings through the skylights. But landing on the bunkers on Kashan...I fail to see why so many pilots think this is a good idea :(
