Bad FPS

Post by LegioX »

Specs
Video - Sapphire Vapor X 5770 1gb GDDR5 (on par with GTX 260/270)
RAM - 4gb ddr2 800
Processor - athlon x2 5400 2.8 ghz
OS - Seven ultimate 64 bit
This should be more than enough to play Project Reality maxed with 4xAA and 1680x1050.
Even on Crysis Very High settings minimum only drops to 22 fps.
But on Project Reality, I get very inconsistent FPS, anywhere from <20 (happens almost 50% of the time) to 150+. I can't figure out whats wrong help!!!! :? :? :?
(R-mods i'm not sure this is in the right section plz move it thanks :D )

What's your texture setting on? Lowering that frees up a lot of resources for little loss other than eye candy. Other than that, well, PR is stretching BF2's engine while Crysis was a very well optimized game that even ran fine on my old one core machine with 1 gig of RAM and 128MB of vRAM.

Im assuming you have tried the obvious ran as admin etc etc :

This is just a stab in the dark however it could work. Try making your paging file size about 500mb this way it forces bf2 to use much more ram. It worked for me as it stabilised my fps to about 40 and i too am on windows 7 64bit. For you it could mean 150 :O

Need anymore help just ask.

This is really an annoying issue, nothing worked for me till I bought a I-7, now its another game, if its on your reality I would consider an upgrade.

Yeah crysis was good, I ran it on my old 8600GTS 256mb. I'll try texture at medium and bump it to 8xAA if texture really is the problem.
