Question regarding key mapping and options: Importing to another computer?

Post by Deathtrap »

I am lucky enough to play PR here at work more times than at home. I have all my keys mapped out and I know the settings.

Is there a way I could copy a file that has all my mapped keys and settings and import it on another computer (lets say at home or on the laptop) so that I wouldn't have to remap it again (and not get it exactly right for whatever reason)?

I remember doing this a long time ago but cannot find it and don't remember if it worked.

Thanks for all the help :)

I hope I understood you correctly :)
Go to your own files (where your Pictures etc. are beeing saved by windows) and have a look for the folder "battlefield 2". In there, you shuld finde another folder called "Profiles". Copy this one to your computer at work and past it in the same location there. You may need to start Battlefield 2 there first, so that it creates the necessary folders.
Then you shuld have all the settings etc. on your second comuter.

Yea, thats it. Sry for some wrong expressions, but since I have a German OS I can only try to translate the names... ;)

C:\Users\(Username)\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 <-(this number will depend on the account you're using, if it's your only BF2 account then it should be 0001)

The files audio.con, controls.con, general.con, and video.con will contain your account settings in those same categories.

Okay thanks. After I got to Profiles, I get 'Local, Controls_Falcon.con, Haptic.con, Settings.con'

Under Local, the other folder is Default, and under that...I have favouriteservers.con, profile.con, profile.desc,serverhistory.con, sound.con, video.con

So just copy everything and import on the other computer?

Is there another folder in the Profiles directory?

Let me get this straight: If you retrieve your account in-game, your settings will be reset, which you don't want to happen?

Make sure you make a BF2 account first. If you drag over "Default", then it sets everything to default. The default folder is there so that when you hit the "default" button, then it sets all the settings to that.

What you could do, is change your default keys to what you like using. However, if you ever wish to reset your buttons back to vBF2, you'll have to do it from memory :)

Or you could just save a copy of the default settings and rename it to something else, such as tDefault or whatever will help you remember it's the original default settings.
