BF2 won't reinstall!

Hi, I apologize if i put this in the wrong forum but I havn't seen a bf2 tech support but maybe im just not paying attention :/. I had donwloaded and installed bf2 and then downloaded the 1.5 patch and I actually played it for a couple of hours before deciding to download PR. I wen't to the downloads section and i downloaded and installed all the parts in the correct order and to the correct folder/s. However after installing it and anticipating gameplay I double clicked the play button and PR wouldn't open up. It would start to load the main theme and title... (like the title and logo in the little box that hasn't fully opened up to your fullscreen ?) and then crash. I read online that I had corrupt PR files. I accidentally deleted the BF2 files along with the PR files. I removed all the hidden files through regedit and there are no more folders or files that I can find that have anything to do with bf2. I went to reinstall BF2 and it would load up and install the 1.42 patch instead. It will not load the actual BF2 game so that the patch will have any effect. I don't know what to do and I think i need some help. Thanks.

This should actually be in the tech support section, and admin will probably move it.

I had the same problem as you with the failure to launch PR, as did a lot of people.
If BF2 is updated and the problem still occurs, try setting it to run as administrator, that's sometimes the issue.
You should also check and make sure that you're running PR in compatability mode for Windows XP, if you're using Vista or Windows 7. You can do that by selecting "Properties" on the PR icon, then going to "Compatability", and selecting XP.

As for your BF2 problem, I'm not too sure about that, but someone who is more tech-savvy than me can probably point you in the right direction.

Try downloading a program called Revo Uninstaller, I am not sure if it will help or not, However, It is worth a try!

For the PR I tried to run as an admin but it still didn't work. I have windows 7 btw. For the BF2 reply I am downloading the program now and hopefully it will work. I will post what happens later today...

I'm restarting my PC now and then i'll try to install BF2 again...

Ok I am now downloading BF2! I hope to be able to install and play PR after I download the patches for BF2... Is it neccassary to install the 1.41 patch before the 1.5? Then which download links are best to install PR?

Yes! It did work! I'm installing 1.41 with a few minutes left. I will then download and install 1.5. I will then download PR in the proper steps through file planet. Thank you for moving this this post [R-Mod]Jigsaw.

Ok... i finally installed patch v1.5 and I go to play multiplayer and it says my cd key is invalid! I saw another post on the PR forums explaining the step by step guide by using regedit etc. When I open regedit and go to the HKEYLOCALMACHINE and then go to SOFTWARE I look for the Electronic Arts folder or tab and it isn't even there! IDK what happened but I have a feeling that i'm going to need to reinstall it because i don't see what else to do...

Ok lol I found the files... i used the find under the edit tab and it found it a looooong way down.....

Ok I also found that BF2 has its own keygen or whatever so it fixed the problem.

Ok it works! However I did have the cd is invalid problem though.... however I used BF2CDKeyCheck and after that it worked Now it's time to start downloading and installing PR... fileplanet here i come!

Ok I installed and it played! I got to play for maybe an hour! I then recieved the punkbuster heartbeats b has stopped... I scanned my computer for viruses and malware and nothing came up. I then reinstalled punkbuster with the punkbuster services and will now see what happens...

Download PBsetup.exe. It updates your Punkbuster.

ok o I now have the punkbuster b heartbeats stopped error so it kicks me out of the game after a minute. I have tried everything! I've reinstalled punkbuster ive updated it i've even disabled my firewall... to no avail.... I'll keep searching but if anyone has any thoughts or ideas please let me know.

Edit: Ok here are the results from pbsvc. I will also try PBsetup.exe but so far that hasn't worked.

Edit(2): I ran pbsetup.exe and it said it's all up to date. So that isn't the fix.

Ok I've temporarily fixed it by opening administrative tools and running services as an admin and while running PR I click on punkbusterB properties and going to recovery and then selecting restart the service after the first third and subsequent failures however I have to do this every time I reload PR to play... I'm still looking for a permanent fix but at least I can play for now.
