I'm not much for video editing but I think its normal. All you have to do is edit it and then compress it to make in like 4GB or something. Best person to ask is Jigsaw.

Yeah, you have to compress it using Windows Movie Maker or a similar program. If you have Windows 7 you can DL WMM for free through Windows Live Essentials

Yeah that's actually quite a conservative figure. At full size recording FRAPS uses ~4GB for 1 minute of footage on my computer. A two hour PR round could consume almost 500GB on high settings :)

Luckily I have a 1TB RAID0 setup dedicated to fraps storage ^_^

Edit: Sorry I posted this in a rant format. I kind of didn't expect to find my entire external hard drive filled up in 2 hours of recording! LOL
Fraps outputs the recorded stuff in an uncompressed format, to keep the full quality. Filesize is a lot bigger as you've noticed, but it's all the more useful when video editing.

If you simply want to convert it to a reasonable format, you can use encoders to do so. If I don't export from Premiere as mp4, I use mencoder to encode it for me.

If you want to edit your video, use whatever video editing program you are comfortable working with. Then export as encoded video, or export the video and encode it afterwards.

Depends on how serious you are about it, or how much you enjoy it. I wouldn't throw too much money at something before you know if it even takes your fancy :)
