The taliban pickup truck should be a lot stronger.
The Taliban use the Toyota Hilux and those things are unstoppable. The one in-game can be taken out by small arms fire. That's just not right!
Here is some proof of how tough it is.

All the vehicles in PR are flawed. I guess you will have to deal with it. Because in real life they dont explode from small arms fire.

Re: The taliban pickup truck should be a lot stronger.
The last time I saw one ingame, it took me a lot of .50 cal to disable it. The civilian vehicles should be made more susceptible to small arms fire to prevent constant ramming.epicelite wrote:The Taliban use the Toyota Hilux and those things are unstoppable. true they didnt get a 30 mm cannon to shoot it with HEAT or armor piercing rounds or shoot anyother bullets at it, IMO civ vehicles should die almost instantly to HEAT or armor piercing roundsSerbiak wrote:proof how tough it is??? Oh common...
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

the pickups in game are not even toyota hilux, they're just generic pickup trucks and if small arms can take out an armoured humvee and not a civilian pickup i think this would be just a little rediculous

I'd like to see some proof of it being used by the Taliban In real life

Not sure if this qualifies as proof, but it has to be the best Newsweek article ever.Sgt.BountyOrig wrote:I'd like to see some proof of it being used by the Taliban In real life

I wonder if someone could make new models for the pickups as actual Toyota Hilux'es?

I don't care how "indestructible" you say it is, no civilian pickup should protect the driver from 50-some .50 rounds to the cab at close range. The Hilux has a very strong frame. This means it is very tough against crushing, crashing, etc. It is not an armored vehicle, and no amount of structural toughness will ward off 25mm AP or the likes.
Also, the pickup ingame takes practically a full belt of .50 ammo to destroy outright. Asking for any more toughness is just silly.

Well, here's another top gear clip on the results of small arms fire on a civilian vehicle.

Taliban and toyota
Second one is a Toyota Landcruiser pick-up (possibly in Chad), IMHO even tougher than a hilux, 4.0L 6cyl diesel no 2.5turbo like the Hilux.
The toyota war.

With regard to the bullet-resistance of vehicles, please post in the 'Roadkilling' thread in General discussion.
With regard to the Toyota Hilux in specific being resistant to bullets, look at the following picture:

Now add the rest in with your imagination.
# There is a fairly hefty 2.4 diesel lump in the front, which from the front will only cover the inside half of the each occupant's body.
# There is a roll-cage, which would presumably deflect bullets. but only from behind, and only in a tiny overall area.
# There is the actual steel of the vehicle. Which from memory is 0.6mm thick on most cars. I don't think that's particularly bulletproof.
Edit: Actually, you can see the body in the background. Would you like to stand behind it whilst someone shot 5.56 at it? Let alone 7.62 or .50.
U mad?

I would like to see this implemented

How about the armor on that one?
I mean it does classify as something that OPFOR has in abundance, and is easily customisable.

I hope Farmer Rhino doesn't see this, his love of tractors could mean a quick sneak implantation.

Re: The taliban pickup truck should be a lot stronger.
As it stands in terms of abilities, the Insurgent ammo truck is fine. If anything, there just need to be more of them around, as they are so important to an insurgent team.
In terms of gameplay have two problems with them. First, because of their toughness, speed, and handling, less experienced and less team-oriented freedom fighters (I'm being charitable here) use them for vehicular homicide rather than for their intended usage, screwing the rest of the insurgent team in the process. My second problem is the fact that on certain maps they do not respawn. Devs, this is akin to having Blufor logistics trucks that don't respawn. These trucks are absolutely critical to mortar squads, sapper/arty sapper/rpg/aa teams, and fake cache teams; in other words, they are critical to the entire counter-insurgency effort. Please fix this asap.

Im still just slightly sceptical about the idea of mass .50's on the back of Pickups, I mean Im okay with the idea of terrorist- sorry, "freedom fighters" having enough spare time to salvage them from wrecks of the soviet vehicles, but how many can there really be that are salvageable? How many can be fitted before ammo distribution is a problem?
I am much more comfortable with the idea of having about 4 freedom fighters clambering into the back compartment of a pickup, with 2x2 in the front two compartments, like
____
[1-1]
[1-1]
------
|1-1|
|1-1|
[___]
So you have one in driver, one in front passenger, one in both back passengers and four in the back, it just seems more conservational and..to be honest...real!
