Voip Issues
Hi All,
This is a problem I have been trying to fix myself for a while now, and so far no luck.
The problem I have is that I cannot hear anybody on the in game voip. I can talk to people, but I cannot hear them talking back. The mic icon, which shows when a player is talking is not showing up either.
I first tried the obvious, compleate manual uninstall of BF2. No effect.
Then I uninstalled the game again, and my sound card drivers, went in game and it worked for that night. Returning to the game the next day, the problem was back.
I then went for the jugular, and re-formatted the PC. Installed BF2, sound drivers etc and again it worked for a while, then stopped working again.
I've tried some different drivers for my sound card, but no luck as yet.
My system spec is as follows;
Win 7 64 bit OS
Asus Mobo
Intel Dual Core
Nvidia 280
Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
Speedlink Medusa NX 5.1 Headset
I can't see that re-formatting the PC again would help.
If anyone has got any advice that would be great.

Re: Voip Issues
I think, I have solved it.
I just disabled all the HDMI sound devices. Didn't really think of it before. Hopefully this will keep on working. If I have any problems I'll post back here. If not, I will just leave it for reference.

I experienced the exact same thing. After a lot of testing, back and forth I finally came to the conclusion that it's my avira anti virus,, that's somehow? blocking the voice coms ( in and out ). So I simply disabled the shield while in game, now it works like a charm
Best of luck,
Michael

Usually if you allow your AV/firewall app. to manage the connections itself you shouldn't get any blocks.

Re: Voip Issues
Make sure that your xfi is actually set as "default device" in "playback devices" since this is what BF2 (and I think bf2voip with it) will go for .
There are two or three similar threads on this in here somewhere... might want to check them.

Re: Voip Issues
Cheers for the help so far. I've checked the other threads, but there don't seem to be any answers there that can help me.
I have tried disabling anti vir, nothing changed.
I went into my creative control panel and selected it to load the default settings, voip then worked on the UK Warfare server. It switched maps and the voip problem was back.
So I have gone from loading my default sound settings, to it working for one round, map changes, voip stops reciving again.
Any other ideas?

I have a similar issue, although mine is that VOIP works for about a minute and then unexpectedly the VOIP settings in audio options just die on me and the mic test fails to respond. If you find a solution I'd be interested for my own sake too, anyway I sympathise mate- good luck.

Re: Voip Issues
Thought I would give this topic a bump up, as the problem still exists.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I will try a few more things out this week to see if I can fix it. Try and see if I can get hold of another sound card to see if its hardware related.

Re: Voip Issues
I used to have a similar problem. I didn't have any sound, no map load sound, game effects. I didn't make it into a squad to test. WIN7 kept changing my output device from the speakers to the SPdif output for the HDMI. I D/L the newest Realtek controls and configured it in there. worked for me.
Best line yet...
Me: "Hey APC, Can I get a ride to squad 6?"
Unknown: "This APC ain't no Taxi!"
