I am a NooB :S ?? -- Normal TK behaviour??

Post by Therran »

Howdy people..

Sure i am new to the online world of PR, and a few days a go i was playing on a server and i happend to blow up some kids in a tank, the guys freaked, and called me everything you can imagine, to a degree i can understand the frustration..

However they kept stalking me all night and insulted me very bad, and to be honest i was temted to blow them up again, but i resisted, but i really did not have i nice time all night because of that small incident..

Well, as i can see that even you experts makes a habit of blowing each other up once in a while my question to you is that everyone can make mistakes and to what degree should you accept to be punished for a accident like this, and what is normal behaviour when this happends? :17_ban:

I just type "wtf" and laugh. Or rage a bit on teamspeak then forget. As you said - accidents do happen and usually the bigger stick you have the more common TKs are.
If someone is stalking/keeps insulting you because you happened to accidentally teamkill him - he's the noob.

Edit: My bad, misunderstanding, stuff
I just explained my reaction when I got tked or I witness some guy TOW-ing the friendly tank.

Sure thing, if it was me tking someone i would say sorry, not laugh at him.

Did you shoot your own teams tank when it was clearly in view and was facing a direction that doesn't denote that its enemy? Did you apologize or even explain yourself?

If so, you're a noob.

With the risk of sounding elitist I have to agree with Dtacs. teamkilling an infantry man I can understand. But a friendly tank?

depending how new you are i could see maybe you just see a tank and no tags appear so you some fire upon it somehow....but you should really check the assets and the sides they are on first. a lot of the time, on insurgency game mode, the tanks dont respawn. So blowing them up ruins the map for them. Id prob get angry at first but then go give recon and forget about it.

And dont even think about tk'ing the Cobra or Muttrah City you'll get banned like crazy...people are touchy about that one.

I think he is more bothered about the fact that the two tards followed him around all night and gave him shit, this to me is not worthy punishment for anything.

dtacs and cyber, although I realise you are both highly skilled PR players I doubt you can honestly say you have never made a massive noob mistake in all your years of PR playing ;) Give the guy a break.

Or report stalker to admin. Have them deal with them. Simple and avoids you from being kicked for tk/revenge tk.

What Moonlight wrote is all wrong. Don't know what servers he plays on....

If you teamkill by accident, avoid the "wtf" like the plague. Just say "sorry". Appreciated by all.

And NO Moonlight, teamkilling what you think are noobs, is not ok.

As someone who did manage to TK a friendly tank on co-op Kashan while gunning an Apache, I can safely say that in black and white, when the two are pretty much next to eachother, it's a nightmare to tell the difference. When there's not much time to react, and you percieve a threat, reaction firing on anything, regardless if it's an infantryman or a B52 heavy bomber, is justifiable at some stage in some random situation that could possibly come up. And if it can possibly come up, after what, 5 years now, it's inevitably come up soon or later.

They're in the wrong for not laughing and getting over it, at the end of the day, no matter who's fault it was in the first place.
A journalist, interviewing a US marines sniper, asked what he felt when he shot a terrorist.

The sniper shrugged, and replied. "Recoil."

You were double unlucky by tk ing two retards, although i must say that when you are new, it might be best to stay away from the more powerful equipement and play normal infantry for a while.
So you can figure out what is going on around you, learn to check the map more frequiently, and ask your squadmates what is going on before you fail by shooting a friendly tank
If you can read this the ***** fell off.

Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback so far,

To clearify things a little better i was playing the Kashan desert map and was close to the MEC base, honestly speaking i could not distinguish between friend or foe, it was tanks all over, and i was one of them, and of course i appologiced.. several times.

But as Robbi is saying, this is more about the punishing part, to be realistic, i made a MISTAKE and it was an ACCIDENT, ask yourself, what would you do? let it pass, or spend your whole night stalking a Noob for a mistake? I know what i would have done...

In this case there was three loosers in the end of the night, instead of three winners, wich to me is the only way to play a game, no matter my level of experience.. :)

The BIG question in this case is that i was beeing stalked a whole map rotation for this one mistake, is this normal? and is that acceptable? what if it happend to you??

Mellanbror i think you didnt understand Moonlight coment , he meant :When he get tked by an other guy he's angry for a few mins then plays normaly....

Some circonstance also make TK happen intentionaly , but not realy (let me explain my self)

I was playing as an IDF soldier on insurgency (i think it's gaza) i played for a long time as IDF then i got swap by the server on the other side , not much time left (5mins or less)SO i decided to go lonewolf found my self a IDF LAT ,walk ,then a techy went pass me, i got some cover cause he stoped hoped on the 50 and he was pining people down i armed the LAT And tked that guy

V-E-H-I-C-L-E R-E-C-O-G-N-I-T-I-O-N... Not every transport chopper is Blackhawk, not every attack chopper is Apache etc.

This is not going for you Therran, but for everybody, because i see familiar players putting everything in the same bin.

But pretty bug fail you did there nontheless, but hey, it happens.

They sound like immature players to me, TK's do happen, they will always happen - IRL too.

They should just get on with the game or if they're so stressed Rage quit, they don't sound like they had much fun for the rest of the round either.

Thumbs up for admitting in public... Hello I am Therran and I TK tanks.....

New guys should stick to Rifleman kits...
Ask your squad mates to teach you how to use the heavier weapons next time...
Other than that, Mistakes do happen...

haha I made loads! Even recently made one. And since I'm always playing the same roles I dont even know all the other things yet! I was hoping not to come over as one of those arrogant people who played for years. Guess I did. Sorry dude!

Thema: Like I said I didnt want to come over as arrogant. Few games ago I flew in to a tree. Stuff like that happens. Dont worry. And about the guys who stalked you. Like Ploddit and a few others are saying. Probably just "Griefers'. Depending on my mood and seriousnes of the night and lenght of the battle I would rage or just go WTF. Would maybe say something in teamchat asking you to check targets better and than continue on with my game. Its still a game ^_^

Shit happens, even for the best. :P

Especially thermals made it more common to tk own tank. :) It happens irl it and it happens in PR. You shouldn't be ashamed or afraid, it's just matter of experience - I remember my first days in PR although I didn't TK a lot I spent a lot of time watching these uniforms and trying to distinguish them. :)

I've managed to tank-TK on a map that only features armor on one side.

'Twas a couple months back on Fool's Road with the fight all the way up at the Militia fortifications. We'd been engaging the enemy moving in on the fort for a good 5-10 minutes, including several vehicles that we'd taken out through heavy foliage. Sure enough right after our last kill a friendly Warrior decided to take the exact same route the enemy had been driving along, and seeing a fast moving glimpse on my thermals I promptly put another 120mm through the woods and blew them straight out of the water.

Took some convincing, aligned stars and a sacrificial goat, but I think they finally accepted the reason and the rather peculiar conditions behind the TK.

HI therran,

you say "they stalked you" do you mean they repeatedly TK'd you ? if so i know of no PR server that wouldn't deal with them with kicks/bans etc.

go to the server's web site and find their protocols on reporting other players in game e.g !R (players name) (nature of offence)

fact of life, some people are arrogant, use the system to fight back thats what its there for.
