Video card help

Post by Hitman1Actual »

Hey everybody, so I want to get a new video card so that I can actually run PR with a decent framerate, and I had a few questions.

This is the card I want:
Amazon.com: XFX PV-T98G-YDLU GF 9800GT 600M 512MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV PCI Express Card: Electronics

Its an XFX 9800 GT Dual TV PCI Express

Now here is my issue:
This is my current PC:
Amazon.com: HP Pavilion Media Center M8120N Desktop PC (Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, 3 GB RAM, 640 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium): Computer & Accessories

Specs:

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Nvidia GeForce 7350 LE video card
3 GB RAM

Now i wanted to know if the video card I want will fit and if I need anything else like a new power supply etc.

Preferably I would just like to get the video card and not anything else.

Thanks for your help!

Dude you can get a better card. It will fit yes. oh and I knwo you don't want to get anything else but another gig of RAM would help with playing PR.

yes it will fit but as stated above for about the same money you can do a much better GPU.. You want something with atleast 1 gig of ddr memory in the card for the same price.

here's a solid example

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100284VXL Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

its out of stock right now but click the auto notify ( they usually go back in stock with 5 days)

I would agree that the ATI Radeon card would be a much better choice, a friend of mine also used to have a problem with the 9800 where his system would lag out every 60 seconds or so on bf2 which was a real killer when flying anything :-P and inevitable the problem was present in PR which forced him to replace...

BLK BERET, I have found a 9800 with 1 gb of memory but my only problem with the sapphire is it takes up 2 pci slots and i have a stock board... does the sapphire need a 400 watt PSU?

This might be a little late, but check your power supply. It might need an upgrade.
Best line yet...
